Does anyone remember the star-studded police and bandit action film "Equator" in 2015, the director/screenwriter is Liang Lemin and Lu Jianqing who created the "Chill" series, and I rewatched it again last night to tell you why this movie didn't catch fire.

The audience was looking forward to the film before it was released that year, for three reasons:

First, the director and screenwriter broke the circle with "Chill", and the new work naturally aroused everyone's curiosity,

Second, the starring cast of the movie is very strong, Zhang Jiahui, Jacky Cheung, Zhang Zhen, Wang Xueqi, Wen Yongshan, Ji Jinxi, Cui Siyuan, Yu Wenle, Gu Meihua, Kim Hae-suk, etc., are all powerful people who can act.

Third, the film has a special theme and rich elements, with South Korea's hand-held nuclear weapons theft as the main line, and Hong Kong, the Far East International Intelligence Center, as the battlefield, the good and evil sides launched a wonderful showdown, including gunfights, fights, car chases and other commercial elements, and suspenseful intelligence battle scenes.

But why is such a big production with an international vision waterloo both word-of-mouth and box office, for three reasons:

1. The script is not solid enough, and the whole film is full of holes from beginning to end.

South Korea's security of nuclear weapons materials is about equal to zero, making Equator so easy.

The villain "messenger" played by Zhang Zhen and Wen Yongshan has repeatedly committed crimes with his true face, and as a result, Hong Kong, Macao and other places still come and go easily and enter and exit freely, and other departments of the Hong Kong Police Force have not responded at all?!

The intelligence center set up by the Security Bureau really has no sense of secrecy, and all the personnel can come and go whenever they want.

Wen Yongshan escaped the most outrageous scene, drove into the freight elevator and ran away, Zhang Jiahui was still filling the cup before leaving, and thought that there were some plans and tricks, but the result was that I overestimated him.

The two handsome guys of the National Intelligence Agency in South Korea are also simple can, so easy to fall into the professor's trap, and don't think that even if you get DC-8 from the professor, you can't get in and out of the country.

In short, there are too many plot loopholes in this movie, and almost every link cannot withstand scrutiny.

2. There are many stars in the movie, and it is a four-perspective narrative, and the result is not a key main line, resulting in a poor sense of audience substitution, in addition, the characters in the film are too acting, as if everyone has a story and connotation, as a result, in addition to the villain played by Jacky Cheung, other roles are just like that.

3. The subject matter of this film is very bluffing, nuclear weapons and nuclear crises, and what Middle Eastern buyers, underground intelligence have appeared, but the pattern is not enough, many lines are written too cryptically, my understanding is that the director and screenwriter really want to make a Hollywood-style blockbuster, but unfortunately due to the reason of passing the review and not enough professional level, the whole story is overheaded.

To sum up, although this "Equator" has such and such shortcomings, it is also a fresh attempt from the perspective of Chinese genre films, and I will give it a score of 6.5.

Finally, there are two highlights in this movie, one is that Jacky Cheung's acting skills are really good, and the other is that the female villain played by Wen Yongshan is cool and beautiful, and Zhang Zhen is simply matched.
