But compared with other generals, Deng Xiaoping began his military career relatively late.

And the reason why the two cooperate also has a story.
In 1937, Zhang Hao, the former political commissar of the 129th Division, who was originally partnered with Liu Bocheng, could no longer hold this job due to physical problems, so Chairman Mao began to look for a new partner for Liu Bocheng.
At that time, everyone gave the advice of choosing one of Ren Bi and Xu Xiangqian, both of whom had a certain prestige and experience in the army.
But after many discussions, no agreement was reached, so after Liu Bocheng arrived in Yan'an, he asked Chairman Mao to be his partner.
At that time, he said that he actually had a suitable candidate, but he didn't know if Chairman Mao was willing to release him.

In this way, he was originally the secretary general of the Central Committee in Yan'an, and he was transferred to the front, and later Deng Xiaoping's military command ability was indeed the same as Liu Bocheng's evaluation.
