At the beginning of the 20th century, a lin named Menwang gave birth to a baby girl, her father was a senior official of the Beiyang government, named Lin Changmin; her uncle was the forerunner of the late Qing Dynasty democratic revolution, one of the seventy-two martyrs of Huanghuagang, and his big name was known to everyone, that is, Lin Juemin.
Her original name was "Lin Huiyin", taken from the "Poetry Daya Siqi" "Da Ji Si Yin, then Bai Si Nan". Later, because there was a male writer also called "Lin Huiyin", this girl thought to herself, how can I have the same name as a man? He changed his name to "Lin Huiyin".
In 1920, at the age of 16, Lin Huiyin traveled with his father to Europe. When she traveled to London, she was shocked by the landlady's knowledge and ability, and secretly vowed to become like her when she grew up. The landlady was an architect, and Lin Huiyin made a vow: she must study architecture in the future.

In 1921, Lin Huiyin met one of her father's students in London by chance, Xu Zhimo, who was studying in England.
The young, beautiful and talented Lin Huiyin made Xu Zhimo fall in love. He launched a frantic pursuit of Lin Huiyin, and the love letters he wrote to her flew to her apartment like snowflakes.
However, at this time, Xu Zhimo was already married, and his wife Zhang Youyi was also a bridesmaid, and his family was very open in both political and business circles. However, in order to pursue Lin Huiyin, Xu Zhimo divorced Zhang Youyi, who had just come to Europe to reunite with him.
Xu Zhimo's feelings for Lin Huiyin were ultimately empty of bamboo baskets. Lin Changmin personally returned a letter to Xu Zhimo, euphemistically rejecting his pursuit on behalf of his daughter.
Lin Huiyin can't say that she has no love for Xu Zhimo at all, but she is very rational and instinctively resists falling in love with a married person.
Although Xu Zhimo's pursuit of Lin Huiyin was fruitless, Lin Huiyin's influence on him was enormous. He confessed in 1931 that the reason why he began to write poetry was because he was deeply influenced by Lin Huiyin.
In 1921, Lin Huiyin returned to China with his father and continued his secondary school studies. Three years later, in June 1924, arranged by Liang Sicheng's father, Liang Qichao, she and Liang Sicheng went to the United States to study, and both planned to study architecture. Lin Changmin and Liang Qichao have always been good friends, so lin and Liang's two families have already made arrangements for their marriage earlier.
The two of them entered the University of Pennsylvania's School of Fine Arts in September 1921, Liang Sicheng studied architecture, because the architecture department does not accept girls, Lin Huiyin had to study in the fine arts department, but took a large number of architecture courses.
In November 1925, Lin Changmin, who was then an aide to the Fengzhi general Guo Songling, was killed by a stray bullet while accompanying Guo Songling in his crusade against Zhang Zuolin. However, his death did not have a big impact on his daughter's study abroad career, because although the Lin family had already fallen into the middle of the family, the Liang family was still quite solid, and the cost of studying abroad for Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng was more than enough.
In the spring of 1928, Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng were married at the Chinese Consulate General in Ottawa, Canada. In August of the same year, the couple returned to China, jointly employed at Northeastern University, and jointly founded the first architecture department in China. In September 1929, the two returned to Beiping, and Lin Huiyin gave birth to his daughter Liang Zaibing.
Later, the Liang couple became neighbors with the famous philosopher and logician Jin Yuelin. Jin Yuelin had close contacts with the Liang family, and unconsciously, he and Lin Huiyin had feelings for each other.
Lin Huiyin finally couldn't help but tell Liang Sicheng about her love for Jin Yuelin. Liang Sicheng did not argue or make trouble with her, and told her after a night of tossing and turning that he respected him no matter how she chose.
Of course, later Jin Yuelin chose to quit. He buried his feelings for Lin Huiyin in his heart, but he used his affection too deeply, so that his heart could no longer accommodate others, so he never married for life.
After the matter was told, Jin Yuelin became a close friend of Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng, and Jin Yuelin even often served as a mediator and arbitrator when the Liang couple had a conflict.
After experiencing this spiritual love affair with Jin Yuelin, Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng can be described as a mutual partner in family life and support each other in their careers, but more often, Lin Huiyin exists as the woman behind a successful man.

Due to his early experience of attending secondary school in a church school, and later traveling to Europe and studying in the United States, Lin Huiyin's English is not generally good, but the kind that can think directly in English.
In her decades of dealings with her American friend Fairbank, all her letters were written in English, and her writing and citations often made Fei envious.
When she teaches at domestic universities, she often speaks English throughout her lectures. During the visit of the Indian poet Tagore to China, she served as his translator throughout the process, and also performed the English drama "Zidra" as the heroine, cheering for his birthday party, which impressed Tagore, the Nobel Prize winner, when she was only 20 years old.
Lin Hui, because of her hot temper, often quarrels with her mother, husband Liang Sicheng, and even a nanny who lives in her house. When she quarreled with her mother, she spoke Fuzhou dialect; when she quarreled with Liang Sicheng, she flew english throughout; and when she quarreled with the nanny, she used Mandarin. Quarreling is just a kind of venting for the general public, but here it has become an art, always clearly organized, witty, and always dumb.
Lin Huiyin has been engaged in architecture all his life and has made remarkable achievements in the field of architecture. She and her husband Liang Sicheng have traveled through more than a dozen provinces for more than ten years, experienced unimaginable hardships and suffered unimaginable hardships, and conducted a relatively comprehensive excavation-style investigation of ancient buildings in various parts of China. Through the investigation, discovery and introduction of the couple, a large number of ancient buildings that have been obliterated have been seen and widely known.
She and Liang Sicheng co-compiled a catalogue of ancient Chinese buildings, which played an important role in the protection of historical relics during the Liberation War and later in the peaceful construction years. When the U.S. military bombed the Japanese mainland at the end of World War II, she specially marked the scenic spots and monuments on the U.S. bombing map, so that a large number of Cultural Monuments in Japan could be preserved during the bombing.
Lin Huiyin designed many famous works, such as the national emblem of our country, the base pattern of the Monument to the People's Heroes, the overall layout of the Babaoshan Cemetery, and the emblem of Northeast University, all of which are from her handwriting. She also worked with Liang Sicheng to rescue the cloisonné craft, and the cloisonné works they designed were also given as a national gift to foreign guests visiting China, which shows the high level of his artistic achievements.
Lin Huiyin also created a large number of literary works, and her poems were very sensational in the 1920s and 1930s. His masterpiece "You are a April Day on Earth" has been praised to this day.

Lin Huiyin was displaced throughout his life. When he was young, he once had a good life, but in middle age, due to the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he and her husband left Beiping for the Southwest.
During this period, he once lived in the countryside and was destitute. She had to personally beat the oil to buy vinegar, cook rice and cook tea, and the days were extremely hard. At this time, an American university invited her and Liang Sicheng to give a lecture. She refused on the grounds that the country was suffering and how could I leave.
During this period, due to the turbulent displacement and the harsh material conditions, Lin Huiyin's lung disease was committed again. Lying on the sickbed, she still did not forget to work, in order to collect and organize the materials for writing the "History of Chinese Architecture", she read through the architectural parts of the Twenty-Four Histories, often working until late at night.
In her spare time, she occasionally wrote and wrote poetry, and the poetry of this period bid farewell to the former beautiful and gentle style and replaced it with desolation and depression, and the words were full of concern for the future and destiny of the country.
After liberation, she devoted herself to national construction with great enthusiasm and spared no effort in the protection of cultural relics. At that time, the person in charge of Beijing Municipality planned to demolish the archway on the street, and Lin Hui, out of his understanding of the value of the archway cultural relics, resolutely opposed it, and slammed the city leaders at that time in person, showing no mercy. Although the archway was eventually demolished, she did her best in the midst of her serious illness.
As the years passed, Lin Hui had been gone for nearly 70 years. Over the years, countless people and things have been lost, but she is like a dazzling star, always shining in the words of history.
