In 2018, director Yang Ting had a sudden idea, she decided to change the protagonist "Abagon" in "Miserly Man" to a woman to play, and invited Wu Qiong, a Huangmei opera performance artist who has always been full of longing for a free and closer to the state of life, to play the role of "Lady Qian". In response to this rehearsal, Wu Qiong gave up part of the daily performance of Huangmei Opera and invested a lot of time and energy in "Oh, Mom! " in the midst of creation. Previously, "Oh, Mom! Because of the music mixed and matched by electronic, rock and yellow plum plays, many viewers will still remember it. In this round of performances, the main creative team increased the use of traditional opera elements, Wu Qiong personally participated in the design of the singing voice of Huangmei opera, adding eight huangmei opera singing segments on the basis of the original music, and newly joined the opera actor Liu Chen.

Liu Chen, who played against Wu Qiong in the play, came from the Affiliated Middle School of the China Academy of Performing Arts, and as a teacher actor, he has also made cameo roles in Beijing Renyi's dramas "The Death of Famous Talents" and "Tea House" in recent years, but the combination of Huangmei opera and modern drama, song and dance is Liu Chen's first contact. Liu Chen believes that this participation has given him a lot of new ideas: "The vocal cavity of traditional opera was actually popular music at that time, and Huangmei opera is both a song and a play and a dance, and its own affinity and vocal cavity advantages are very strong." The director, screenwriter and musician combine these with the current drama stage and popular music very naturally, and all the Huangmei opera singing segments are in the plot, and this mix-and-match is simply seamless. Now many new choreographers seek new for the sake of innovation, resulting in a sense of rigid violation, so that young people do not like, traditional old audiences do not accept. This drama introduces Huangmei drama, retains the charm and appeal of its vocal cavity and makes it young and fashionable, which I like very much. Xiao Qiang, a well-known host of Beijing People's Radio, another cross-border attempt in the play, told "Oh, Mom! Version 2.0 is full of confidence: "This version after the re-arrangement further breaks the boundaries between traditional opera and contemporary popular music, and the characters' emotions are richer, the expression is clearer, and the presentation will be more transparent." ”
