Take, for example, the construction process of Hutou Fortress, when the Japanese army captured innocent peasants from Shandong and some areas controlled by the puppet Manchurian government and escorted them to the Tiger Mountain area. Most of these unarmed peasants were strong domestic laborers who were taken to the northeast in a vacuum and forced to engage in inhuman and forced labor.
The Japanese treated them either by beating or scolding, and in order to save money, they gave them only a very small amount of food and drink every day to these suffering laborers.
