Today's course|Deeply explore the principle of different palace positions and re-understand the 12 palace positions!

"With so many palace systems, which one should I choose?"

Many friends who have studied astrology for a while must have had similar "soul questions".

Placid, Koch, Whole Palace, Waiting Palace, Acapit...

These feelings can make up a rap, "dazzling" palace system, what is the difference between them?

It is said that you can choose your favorite palace system, is this really the case?

If you don't understand the principle of the palace position, the interpretation may be wrong in the "direction" at the beginning?

——Don't worry friends, the good news is that the latest "House System" elective course of the London Astrology Institute is about to be launched.

The chairman of the NCGR China Chapter, a teacher from the background of ancient astronomical history, will start with easy-to-understand celestial models, take us to understand the three coordinate systems as the basis of astrology, and on this basis, deeply learn the origin, characteristics, and application laws of different types of house systems.

Yuanzhi said that if you only want to be an "astrolabe interpreter", then this course may not be suitable for you.

But if you want to become a professional "astrologer", or if you want to learn more about the principles of different house positions and explore the true meaning of the zodiac signs, then I recommend you to check it out.

 01

Palace position system, how to choose?

Most of the friends who study modern astrology are familiar with the palace system such as Placidus and Koch, and the students at the London Astrology Institute should also be familiar with the Equal.

In fact, if you lived in ancient times, you might be more accustomed to the Whole Sign or Campanus. Or if you lived in the 18th or 19th century, you might have witnessed the sudden popularity of the Placidian palace...

When we do not stop at "what", but ask "why" and "where did it come from" under the curtain of history, the understanding of different "palace systems" may immediately become much fuller.

Many teachers may be accustomed to using different house separation systems, and they may also tell you that just choose the house system you are used to.

But I personally have reservations about this statement.

Today's course|Deeply explore the principle of different palace positions and re-understand the 12 palace positions!

Because in terms of birth and origin, why are there so many palace systems? They are actually set up by astronomers and astrologers to solve problems of different types and even different dimensions.

For example, an astrologer shares the belief that "the 10th house represents a career" (although a career is not necessarily represented by the 10th house). Ta then discovered that under the previous house system, certain stars were not in the 10th house. In order to better reflect Ta's perception of a particular problem, and perhaps after a large number of samples of this issue, perhaps Ta created a new palace system, so that, for example, the 10th house can more clearly express his need to interpret his career.

Therefore, if you do not understand the origin of a particular palace system, or the "original intention" of its establishment, you are likely to misuse the inappropriate palace system when encountering problems in different dimensions or types, or make a wrong or one-sided interpretation of this palace position.

How to choose the palace position system?

This question cannot be answered when we do not understand the principle of the palace position.

 02

The basis of the sub-palace - the three coordinate systems

Perhaps in the minds of many people, the "astrolabe" is just a flat star map in front of them.

But don't forget that we just assume that the planets are roughly moving along the ecliptic belt, but in fact their trajectories are inclined to the zodiac.

What's more, this astrolabe is our observation of the movement of stars from a specific position on Earth. This means that when we are in different locations and at different latitudes, the stars we observe are actually very different.

Today's course|Deeply explore the principle of different palace positions and re-understand the 12 palace positions!

That is to say, astrology is not a discipline that is sufficient to solve problems in the plane range, and its observation dimension should actually be spherical and three-dimensional.

For the celestial architecture of astrology, it is actually a science that is finally superimposed by several sets of coordinate systems, which involve at least the equatorial coordinate system, the ecliptic coordinate system, and the horizon coordinate system.

This is why, at the beginning of this course, I will take you back to learn these three coordinate systems in depth, which is also the basis for our subsequent explanation of the division method.

We all know that the most important ascendant point for establishing an astrolabe is actually an eastern node of the ecliptic and the horizon of the celestial sphere. And the establishment of our four seasons throughout the year, the very important "vernal equinox", or the position of the first Aries in astrology, is actually a meeting point between the zodiac and the celestial equator.

So you'll find that they don't actually exist on the same plane. In the setting of the palace position, it will actually involve the mutual projection of the positions of these stars under different coordinate systems. Whether we project them all on the horizon coordinate system, or both on the ecliptic coordinate system, or the equatorial coordinate system, it actually involves the transformation of the coordinates or positions of these stars in different systems.

And these different projection methods also cause these planets to come to different regions of the astrolabe in different sub-house systems. This is why there are so many palace systems.

 03

Different sub-palace systems actually have different applicable scenarios

From the perspective of large categories, the sub-palace system is divided into two categories: the space sub-palace system and the time sub-palace system.

Like the more commonly used house system at the London Astrology Institute, and the early whole house system, they are all spatial house systems. The principle of the space division system is relatively easy to understand, for example, we all know that for the whole palace system, the span of an entire zodiac constellation is a palace position; The isometric system starts from the degree of the ascendant point and divides the zodiac band evenly every 30°.

Today's course|Deeply explore the principle of different palace positions and re-understand the 12 palace positions!

A suggestion I would like to give you here is that when we don't understand the reason for the establishment of the palace position at all, it is actually better to directly use the most basic method of dividing the palace system or the whole palace system, because they are actually the closest connection with the constellations and elements.

The principle of the time division system, such as the Placide palace system, may be relatively complicated, and there will be robbery, or it may not be suitable for high latitude and so on.

It should be noted that the two systems of time and space have different system projection and conversion principles, so the logic of palace ranking and interpretation is also very different.

These principles, in class, I will draw them into intuitive and easy-to-understand dioramas to help everyone understand. Because you may be accustomed to flat star maps, it may be difficult to directly understand or imagine the three-dimensional structure.

Regarding the difference between different sub-house systems, we can first look at a small example. For example, the following two are the astrolabes of King Charles of England, Figure 1 is under the equal palace system (space division palace), Figure 2 is under the Placid palace position system (time division palace).

Figure 1:

Today's course|Deeply explore the principle of different palace positions and re-understand the 12 palace positions!

Figure 2:

Today's course|Deeply explore the principle of different palace positions and re-understand the 12 palace positions!

We will see that under the waiting house system, the upper middle heaven (MC) falls into the 9th house, and the head of the 10th house is Taurus. In the Placide House system (because the 10th house of the Placide House system is always set up with MC as the starting point), the head of the 10th house is Aries.

From the astral point of view, a very important difference is that the moon falls in the 9th house under the palace system, while under the Prasid house system, the moon is in the 10th house.

At this time, how do we interpret Charles's moon and his social image and career? Which interpretation under the palace system do you think will be more in line with him?

You might say that Placid's 10th house of the Moon seems more in line with Charles, because he is best known for his relationships, his mother, and so on. And because the 10th house represents career, the moon in the 10th house is more in line with his image in the hearts of the world.

But if we continue to look at his 5th house (representing children, interest entertainment, etc.), because the plassing phenomenon of the palace position system occurs (that is, the head line of the 12 house positions does not contain all the constellations, in this case the twin and the shooter are robbed), you may say, how come it seems that the 5th house head shooter of the palace system is more like Charles? Because his hobbies seem to be quite extensive...

Everyone can think about their own answers here. Some clues to everyone are, for example, the pinnacle of a career, or the "moment" that gets the most attention in the spotlight, but is actually more like a topic in a time dimension. And hobbies, children's status, these problems do not necessarily emphasize time.

Therefore, different types of palace systems actually have their own more applicable scenarios, which requires us to understand the setting principle of the palace position system in order to better distinguish them.

Can you "spoil" again to give you a key question: Does the 10th house really represent the peak of your career?

Under the chronological system (such as Placid), the 9th house represents the beginning of clockwise descent after experiencing the heyday of the 10th house, while the logic of the establishment of the spatial division system (such as the equal house system) is counterclockwise, the opposite of it. So in the astrolabe of Charles and other palaces, MC falls in house 9, is house 9 really the position where house 9 lands than house 10, or is it the opposite? How should it be interpreted?

Today's course|Deeply explore the principle of different palace positions and re-understand the 12 palace positions!

These questions may sound a little "around", but as you understand the principles and laws of the house system, the more you will find that they not only determine how to choose the appropriate house division method for a specific problem, but also affect your understanding of the meaning of the 12 house positions themselves under the different house division rules.

 04

Will this course take me to reacquaintance with the 12th house?

Although the theme of this course is "palace position", with the introduction of different palace position systems, we will disassemble and reintegrate the meaning of the 12 house positions in different dimensions.

Just like the example of "10 houses represent careers" above, many of the understandings of palace positions in our minds are actually labeled, scripted.

But why are houses 1 to 12 arranged this way? What does the correspondence between houses like 1st and 7th houses, 2nd and 8th houses represent? Can the 12 houses be understood simply by analogy with zodiac signs such as Aries to Pisces? 1-5-9, 2-6-10, what kind of connection and unity are these positions? ......

Similar problems require us to dare to discover and think.

On the other hand, many of the interpretations of the palace position that we see now may actually come from the division of space and time, but we may only see one aspect and not the other side, or in other words, we only know that this palace position has such a meaning, but do not know that it may also include other meanings.

Therefore, I look forward to exploring the different methods of dividing the palace with you in this course, and the setting of the meaning of different palace positions is "why". I am not trying to impose myself on an astrologer or to give you my own knowledge, but I hope that you will find your own answers in this process of learning and inquiry.
