[Sun] Genghis Khan

The knights who participated in the tournament, dressed in costumes, armor and ancestral insignia, believed that they were the best warriors in the world, while the Mongol warriors did not.

Mongolian horses may be small, but riders dress lightly and travel faster. These were tenacious people who grew up on horses and hunting, making them warriors better than those who grew up in agrarian societies and cities. Their main weapon is a bow and arrow. The Mongols of the early 1200s were disciplined, coordinated, and tactically sophisticated.

Mongolians practice shamanism and may not exceed 700,000. Their language today is described as Altaic and originated in the inhabitants of the Altai Mountains in western Mongolia. They are herders in the steppes north of the Gobi Desert and south of the Siberian Forest.

Before 1200, the Mongols were torn apart, and small groups headed by chiefs or khans moved around, living in movable yurts. The Mongols endured frequent scarcity and sparse grazing areas.

They often fought for territory, in tough times they occasionally carried out raids, they were interested in cargo and not bloodshed. They did not collect human heads or scalps as trophies.

From his teens to 1200 Chinese New Year's Eve eight years AD, a Mongol named Temüjin became a khan in various families. He is an excellent manager who gathers talented people around him.

He was a vassal of Ong Khan, a titular alliance leader, with whom Temujin participated in a military campaign against the Tatars in the east. After the success of this campaign, Wang Khan declared Temujin his adopted son and heir.

Wang Han's own son, Senggüm, had been looking forward to succeeding to the throne and plotted to assassinate Temujin. Temujin learns of this, and those loyal to Temujin defeat those loyal to Sangjin. Temujin is now established as the leader of the King-Khan Alliance.

In 1206, at the age of 42, Temujin received the title of "ruler of all nations", which means Genghis Khan. Like the peoples elsewhere, Genghis Khan's subjects considered themselves the center of the universe, the greatest beings, blessed by the gods.

They defended Temujin's success in the war, claiming that he was not only the "people of the felt tent" but the rightful master of the whole world. As Genghis Khan, Temujin thanked his supporters for their help and loyalty and continued to organize.

He improved his military organization, which was also a fluid political bureaucracy, and he broke the remnants of the old rival tribes, leaving only those tribes that showed loyalty to him to be ethnically homogeneous.

Genghis Khan developed a legal system that he had worked on all his life. This includes the eradication of the tradition of abducting women. The kidnapping of women caused feuds among the Mongols, and as a teenager he suffered the abduction of his young wife Bolt, whom he devoted himself to rescuing.

In addition, Genghis Khan declared that all children were legal, regardless of the mother. He enacted laws prohibiting any woman from being betrayed into marriage. The theft of animals caused discord among the Mongols, and Temujin condemned it to death.

The lost animal is returned to its owner, and taking the lost property for yourself is considered theft and capital offence. Temujin regulated hunting—a winter activity—and raised everyone's meat supply.

He introduced record keeping, using his actions years ago to put his native language into writing. He created the official seal. He established the highest legal officer responsible for collecting and preserving all judicial decisions, supervising the trials of all those accused of misconduct, and having the power to impose the death penalty. He created order, consolidated his domain, and improved his ability to expand his territory.
