Every year on the occasion of national day, the staff of the Lugu Lake Provincial Nature Reserve Management and Protection Bureau (hereinafter referred to as the "Lugu Lake Management and Protection Bureau") and the residents who have lived in Lugu Lake for generations will involuntarily look up or look at the vast lake and the blue sky, and try their best to search for the long-awaited migratory birds.
On the morning of October 20, the staff of the Resources Protection Section of the Lugu Lake Management and Conservation Bureau received photos of migratory birds sent by forest ranger Fu Yunhuan. On the same day, the Lugu Lake Management and Conservation Bureau quickly organized relevant personnel to conduct a comprehensive survey of the population and number of wintering migratory birds in the three main migratory bird habitat areas of Puluo, Daluoshui and Bamboo Land in Yunnan.
A total of 6 populations of wintering migratory birds and 2246 animals were surveyed, mainly distributed in the main habitats of the lake and bamboo area. Among them, there are 2114 dominant breeds of white bone-top chickens, 32 white-eyed diving ducks, 6 crested diving ducks, 12 crested ducks, 60 small-billed chickens, and 20 red-billed gulls.
In a few moments, with the arrival of winter, Lugu Lake will welcome thousands of wintering migratory birds, reaching the peak of wintering migratory birds by the end of December. By then, 30,000 migratory birds are expected to overwinter in Lugu Lake and surrounding wetlands.
In the more than 30 years since the establishment of the Lugu Lake Provincial Nature Reserve, generations of foresters and grasslands have made unremitting efforts to strengthen publicity and education among the residents of the vast lake area, thoroughly implement various protection measures, and the residents of the protected area have formed good ecological habits of loving birds, protecting birds and loving green waters and green mountains. Especially since the start of eco-tourism, the good ecological environment of Lugu Lake has brought good economic benefits to the residents of the lake area, so that they have deeply understood that "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains", and more consciously joined the protection of the ecological environment, showing a good atmosphere for protecting the ecological environment.
