According to Tolo News in Afghanistan, local officials told reporters that on Friday (15th), an explosion occurred near a mosque in Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan.

It is reported that the explosion occurred near the gate of a mosque in the first police district of Kandahar city and has caused casualties.

According to local sources, the mosque belonged to a Shiite place of worship, and the explosion occurred during Friday prayers. Witnesses said the casualties were high.

Dawn tv said there was no exact or official report on the number of casualties. No organization has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Just last Friday (8th), a mosque in Kunduz Province, Afghanistan, exploded during worship. A United Nations agency said the blast killed and injured hundreds of people. The mosque is also visited by Shiite Muslims, a minority in Afghanistan.

After the incident, the extremist group "Islamic State Khorasan" declared responsibility for the attack. The U.N. envoy to Afghanistan condemned the attack on the 8th, calling it a "disturbing act of violence" against religious institutions.
