There is a large-scale hospital with perfect medical facilities in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, and after years of war, this hospital can still provide high-quality medical services for people in the local area and even in many surrounding provinces, and it is also a witness to the friendship between China and Arab countries, and the local people affectionately call it "Chinese Hospital".
This "Chinese hospital", Mirwais Hospital, was designed and funded by China in the 1970s and officially opened in 1975. Now that nearly half a century has passed, locals may not remember its real name, but no one knows about "Chinese hospitals" mentioned.
The "Chinese Hospital" is still operating 24 hours a day after years of gunfire and bullets. In 1996, the International Committee of the Red Cross funded the restoration of the damaged "Chinese Hospital" and has been supporting the hospital. Anna, a Chinese obstetrician and gynecologist who was stationed in Kandahar by the International Red Cross, told us in a remote interview that as soon as her Chinese face appeared, the locals enthusiastically told her about the origin of the "Chinese hospital", and she also found many Traces of China in the hospital.
In the courtyard of the hospital, many patients are waiting to be treated, they are sitting in groups of three or five, and many patients and family members waiting for treatment can only sit on the ground or on the steps.
The hospital currently has a capacity of 600 beds, and although the facilities are somewhat rudimentary, the hospital is indeed the most authoritative large hospital in Kandahar province and even in the entire southern region, relying on this hospital for medical services for about 10 million people in the surrounding 9 provinces.
In the past 20 years, the United States has been stationed in Afghanistan, where the war has never stopped, the development of people's livelihood has almost stagnated, and medical resources are extremely scarce. To make matters worse, large numbers of Afghans have been maimed as a result of frequent explosions, and the medical gap is extremely obvious.
