A few days ago, the "thirteenth room" of the former Yang Yongxin Online Rehabilitation Center of the Linyi Mental Health Center circulated on the Internet and reported a video of children screaming, which once again pushed Yang Yongxin and the topic of "electric shock to cure Internet addiction" to the outlet of public opinion.
On the 25th, the Linyi Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission responded that the former "Internet Rehabilitation Center" of the Linyi Mental Health Center was cancelled in August 2016, and since then it has no longer accepted Internet addicts. The "room thirteen" mentioned in the video is the rescue room for the treatment of mentally ill people. After the police investigation, the cries in the video were not from Room 13, but from the 8-year-old child in Ward 12. The child is a patient with mental retardation.
For the official response, some netizens are still skeptical. The screams of the children in the video are shocking, and in recent years, there are still often reports of "abuse of children by the net rehabilitation center", which makes people worry, is the Linyi "net rehabilitation center" really shut down?
In fact, as early as many years ago, Yang Yongxin, who was regarded as a life-saving benefactor by the parents of many "Internet addicted teenagers", had encountered a round of questioning and bombardment. Compared with 2009, the popularity of online games and smart phones in recent years, "Internet addiction" has become a word of the times has long been abandoned. In public opinion, Yang Yongxin is an image of a terror demon king who is hostile to the times, and in the medical world, he is in the gray area of spiritual healing and the collapse of unit family values. Any interpretation from a single perspective can only be misplaced. The news of these two days reminds me of some of my experiences in 2009 when I went to Linyi, Shandong Province, to interview Yang Yongxin.

Hanging the sign of the Mental Health Center, the beige building of the Fourth People's Hospital of Linyi City, Shandong Province, is located in the downtown area. Usually, several floors are quiet, in the morning children and parents go to the "Uncle Yang" class, and in the afternoon, it is military training and enlightenment game activities. At 17:30 p.m., the children in camouflage uniforms returned from the playground, and the parents stood at the intersection hand in hand, at first I thought it was to cheer up the children, but in fact, the parents were to prevent the children from running, "but with a smile on their faces."
The extremely gloomy description of "No. 13" is located in several treatment rooms on the second floor, because the "Thirteen Rooms" sign has been removed, and only the "Behavior Correction Treatment Room" sign is seen. During the break, several children washed their feet and chatted at the door, and each child went in to do radio wave therapy.
"Take the two electrodes of the water-stained therapy instrument, somewhere up the temple, and click it quickly, it is a numb and painful discomfort, but very fast. That's what we have to take on. The outside world is full of imagination about this instrument made by a medical device factory in Shanghai with a current of 1 to 5 milliamperes. The child had heavy bangs, an angry and indifferent expression, wearing a very short skirt and tights, and several tall camouflage boys stood behind their hands and surrounded the girls in a circle. Extremely dissatisfied, she kicked her father in the waist, and then was sent to the behavioral treatment room by her parents and uncle in a loud curse. "New allies have to get through this." A parent said calmly. Yang Yongxin came and touched the girl's back very lightly, and she was beaten to the side, and her mother shouted, "Who will help me, she twisted me so much that it hurts", relatives plus a few boys, or seven hands and eight feet let her lie down.

The cost of the online rehabilitation center was 6,000 yuan for the first month, and then decreased, and a course of treatment for 4 and a half months ranged from 20,000 to 25,000 yuan. A mother took the initiative to lean over, pointing to her shy daughter who was walking on duck steps in military training, saying, "It is normal for her to spend more than 100,000 yuan a year on brand-name clothes."

It is worth noting that the management system in this "magic cave" is almost entirely the behavior of parents. There are only 25 medical staff in the online rehabilitation center, and there are currently about 160 children, plus nearly 400 parents. Many parents are strong and decent, and it is precisely because they were too face-saving and deliberately ignored their children's feelings that they had to enter the system set by Yang Yongxin. Regardless of where the identity of 8 people mixed, I met the master's degree or above, gentle and quiet mother and president father, in fact, the closure and severity here is far more relaxed than their disguise in their hometown.
In fact, many psychological problems are far from being addicted to the Internet. A new 17-year-old Shanghai boy fully expressed his hatred and dissatisfaction with his family and society, and said that if he had not come here, he might have committed suicide again. He already had several scars juxtaposed on his wrists, and he ate the whole bottle of sleeping pills twice.
After Yang Yongxin waited for the child to finish speaking, he led the child's extremism and demand for absolute freedom to war and crime, but before he could finish speaking, the child's uncle stood up and loudly argued with Yang Yongxin. "To cure the disease is to cure the disease, saying that my child is bad to that extent, you are deliberately guiding!" I am a professor at Yangzhou University, why do you say that he is ... "Another child who won the national Olympiad championship, just because of a criticism from his teacher, he no longer had any interest in reading, and only read novels on the Internet."
Behind the text, there is also an unforgettable interview experience of mine. Before going to Linyi, I wanted to have a direct dialogue with Yang Yongxin. See what kind of devil makes teenagers sluggish, horrible, and walking dead and lose their human rights. The first option was to find a reporter who reported early, but I found that the other party did not interview Yang Yongxin. Such a dragon pond tiger den? I called for a long time to go to Linyi, but the other party kept prevaricating, the first day of running fruitless, the next day in the middle of the rain I went straight to the fourth courtyard.
When I entered the mental health center, I still think of myself as a newborn calf, and I can understand why most people just can't enter on the periphery. The nurse asked me to wait outside the door for an hour, and I went directly to the hall where Yang Yongxin was in class, and as soon as I entered, I was crossed out by the parents. The female parents who began to surround me were gone, leaving only a black and fat Shandong han with the words of the Parents' Committee written on the sign.
I told him that I wanted to meet Yang Yongxin, after all, he was the protagonist of this matter, and this parent immediately began to push and shove me. It was on an open-air platform, and my umbrella fell to the ground, and he easily pushed me down the stairwell twice, which was also 5 or 6 meters away, and the ground was very slippery, and I almost fell down the steps. He pressed his hands against my neck and back, and with great force I fell forward a few times. I saw that he had lost his mind, and my spirit to protect myself finally sobered up, "If you move again, I will call the police!" He was stunned and grabbed my wrist with both hands so that I couldn't move.
At this time, a few female parents came up from downstairs, and when they came up, they couldn't help but pull me downstairs, they all worked hard, and I was pulled down the stairs in three steps and two steps. I couldn't stand it anymore and immediately dialed 110, 110 and asked me, "You said you were a journalist, what interview procedures did you go through?" "I remembered the reporter of Linyi Daily, who I was going to call Yang Yongxin the night before, and I invited him to dinner on the first day of my arrival in Linyi, and when I returned to the Linyi Daily building after eating, I happened to meet someone from the Propaganda Department of the Linyi Municipal Party Committee at the door, and he introduced me to the person who had come to report on Yang Yongxin, and the person was about to get on the bus, so he nodded with me and left.
110 arrived quickly, and when the parents saw that the police were attacking me in groups, and the people who beat me were also hidden, they also asked me to admit" Who hit you?" Nonsense you! There is no one at all! I said it was just me and the fat black parent, and a few men laughed and said, "Am I black enough?" Fat isn't it? Another woman simply said, "She herself has a mental illness to come to this kind of place, maybe she beats people herself!" ”
The local police in Linyi did not ask who was rude to me, but began to interrogate me continuously. "Where did it come from?" What do you do in a psychiatric hospital? Why is there no one to accompany? A girl of such a young age, running to such a place alone, without any formalities from the competent authorities..." The police questioned, and the parents who besieged me were in unison. My tears fell without a fight. Somehow I suddenly plucked up a burst of courage and said loudly, "You sent your children here to make them grow up, and I am young, please think with the mood of parenting, are you reforming your children so that he will enter society in the future and be treated with such unreasonable treatment as I am now?" ”
I registered the police, and they continued to report upwards to verify my information. I said, "Even if I'm a Chinese citizen, shouldn't you first find out the person who hit me, who has disappeared since now, and you've been using me for censorship, is that fair?" They said, "You say you're a journalist and you're in this kind of place, you should be prepared for this, it's not that we say you, we don't usually come to a mental hospital, now we say you're for your own good." ”
I really didn't have the strength to argue, and the tears kept flowing. Later, this matter finally had a result with the help of the Linyi Daily reporter. He approached the Propaganda Department of the Linyi Municipal Party Committee and asked them to call the police and the hospital, and I was handed over to the hospital by the police.
I really don't know what the use of calling the police in this situation is, I went from a mob to a public servant, and I was still the target of the attack. The hospital's union president, Sister Yang, was the first to give me warmth anyway, and after two hours in the rain, she took off her sweater and draped it over me.
I had to call my leader, Li Jing, who accused the hospital of its behavior on the phone and told my editor-in-chief that she could give up the topic. This kind of support from the unit has resurrected me again. The more the dark place is described, the more likely it is to nourish something we can't see, or don't want to see, that thing is darker than terror, whiter and more fascinating than hypocrisy. I dried my tears and started the interview.
Pain is palpable, happiness is fragile. The Internet is just a tool for teenagers to escape reality and rebel against society. The so-called anti-Internet addiction has established more than 70 "military rules", and if you look closely, it is actually the support and actions of parents. Many families who go to seek help cannot be classified as Internet addiction, and "character defects" and "problem families" are the other two major goals of diagnosis and treatment in addition to Internet addiction.

After many years, I feel more and more that many problems such as human nature and family affection are complicated, and Linyi is just a small microcosm of the chaos of a modern family, let alone an antidote. However, modern society has beautified and pursued online social networking, two-dimensional yuan, otaku, aging, and ultra-low birthrate. In fact, within the smallest unit of this society, the family, spiritual desolation is not a minority. I later did a series of marginal social problems such as suicide for left-behind children, rural outbreaks of hepatitis C, etc., and I can empathize with despair and lack of choice.
