[Lithography machine giant openly questioned US restrictions on China]

The Paper News, Dutch ASML CEO Peter Wen said in an interview with Dutch media that under pressure from the United States, the Dutch government restricted ASML's export of its most advanced lithography machines to China from 2019, which benefited American companies selling alternative technologies and products. Peter Wen said that while 15 percent of ASML's sales come from the Chinese market, for U.S. semiconductor equipment suppliers, the figure is 25 percent, sometimes more than 30 percent.

Tanjian: There are really not many foreign companies that dare to challenge the US government head-on, the last two frontal battles were French Alstom, and later Huawei, the outcome has been seen, both are more difficult. Dutch and Japanese semiconductor chip companies have been required by the United States to restrict exports to China. This is not the first time that the United States has done such a self-serving thing, after the United States strongly encouraged Australia to cut ties with China, and then quickly seized the other party's market.
