Richmere Winery, formerly known as Emerald Hill, was founded in 1998 by Spanish couple Tom and Cath Jimenez. At the time, their vision of experimenting with alternative varieties was unconventional in the region – a tradition that continues to this day. In 2004, Brisbane Project Manager Martin Cooper was hired to manage the development of the Queensland Institute of Wine and Tourism. While building the Academy, he developed a keen interest in the landscape, lifestyle and wine of the Granite Belt. Among the opportunities to explore, he stumbled upon the Emerald Mountain. Attracted by its natural beauty and the great potential of the wine, the Cooper family purchased the property and established Richmere estate.

Under his direction, Ridgemere Vineyards continues to explore, challenge and refine the art of creating wines that best suit the terroir conditions of the region; Resonates with its character and delights and surprises the palate of wine lovers. The mantra of the estate is to produce wines of timeless elegance and sophistication. It is a passion that requires tireless dedication, a strong commitment to quality and the discovery of new varieties and their continuous improvement as each one grows. To this end, in 2013 a nearby property was acquired to expand the vineyard.

Ridgemere estate wines are the product of sustainable and caring vineyard practices, cultivating grapes harvested at their peak and then crafting them using exquisite skills gathered from the old and new worlds to create distinctive, European-inspired wines that complement Australia's vibrant food culture. The granite belt GI terroir echoes some of the world's great wine regions – notably the Rhône Valley in France and Rioja in northern Spain. At 840 meters above sea level, the cool climate produces a balance between warm day temperatures and mild to cool nights throughout the growing season. The rough, well-drained granite soil gives the wine a unique character and intrinsic quality. As a boutique winery, Richmere Estate is open for wine tasting experiences Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The winery also offers recreational grazing, wedding celebrations, honeymoons, romantic weekends, vacations, group activities and accommodation, transforming a single winery into a full-service tourist attraction and further enhancing the winery's impact.
