According to the report, when the suspect saw "Spider-Man", "Captain America", "Thor" and "Catwoman" breaking in, he thought it was a prank.
Peruvian police said that on October 29, local time, four police officers dressed as Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor and Catwoman participated in an operation called "Marvel" (Marvel), which targeted a specific house in the San Juan de Luligancho district of Lima, which is "one of the most dangerous areas" in Peru.
The cops, dressed as "superheroes" from Marvel and DC Comics, pretended to promote the Halloween concert, and when Spider-Man and his companions arrived at the target of the operation, they smashed a door with "Mjolnir", allowing 10 other police officers to enter the house, and the police pulled out guns and controlled the drug gang members.
When the "superheroes" stormed the target building, the suspects thought it was a prank, but when they pressed a person to the floor, the suspects realized it wasn't a joke.
During the raid, police arrested three men and one woman on suspicion of their involvement in a criminal organization.
Police successfully seized 3,250 packets of cocaine paste (also known as coca cream, a crude extract of coca leaves), 287 packs of cocaine and 127 packs of marijuana.
In Peru, 1 kilogram of cocaine paste costs about $380 (about 2,754 yuan), and 1 kilogram of cocaine hydrochloride costs about $1,000 (about 7,247 yuan). Because of its simplicity and relatively low price, cocaine paste is a drug that is highly prevalent in South American countries rich in coca crops.
Sheriff David Villanueva said the raid targeted a family workshop where a family, from parents to children, was engaged in drug trafficking and who normally sold drugs in a nearby park.
It is worth mentioning that disguised assault is a common trick of Peruvian anti-narcotics police to ensure surprise, and this strategy has achieved some success in recent years.
In December 2020, members of the Peruvian police anti-drug squad, dressed as Santa Claus and elves and wearing bulletproof vests in costumes, broke into a house in Lima and managed to capture a drug dealer, Reuters reported.
