Soviet film "War and Peace"
"War and Peace" is a war film written and directed by Sergei Bondarchuk, starring Lyudmila Saverieva, Sergei Bondarchuk, Vyacheslav Tikhonov and others, released in the Soviet Union on March 14, 1966.
The film is adapted from Leo Tolstoy's novel of the same name, divided into four parts, with the Russian-French war of 1812 as the main axis, with the emotional story of the noble lady Natasha, the noble young Pierre and Duke André as the clue, reflecting the major events from 1805 to 1820, showing the style of Russian society at that time.
Synopsis
The first "Andrei Borkonsky"
In St. Petersburg in 1805, Pierre Bezukhov, the illegitimate son of a wealthy aristocrat, was introduced to high society. His friend Duke Andrei Borkonsky took part in the Third Allied War against Napoleon as an aide-de-camp to General Mikhail Kutuzov.
The second "Natasha Rostova"
At the end of 1809, Natasha Rostova attended her first ball. Duke Andrei Bolkonsky fell in love with her and planned to marry her, but her father asked them to wait. The Duke traveled abroad and Natasha missed him terribly. But when she met Anatoly Kuragin forgot about Andrey. At the last minute, she regretted and abandoned her plans to elope with Anatoly. Duke Bolkonsky heard about this and announced the dissolution of their marriage. Pierre tries to calm Natasha and suddenly declares that he loves her.
Part 3 "1812"
In 1812, Napoleon's army invaded Russia. Kutuzov asked Duke Bolkonsky to join him as a staff officer, but the duke asked to be in command on the battlefield. Pierre set out to watch the coming confrontation between the two armies. During the Battle of Borodino, he volunteered to assist in an artillery battery. Borkonsky's troops were waiting in the reserve, but he was hit by a shell. Both Anatoly and Bolkonsky were seriously injured. The French army was victorious and advanced towards Moscow.
The fourth "Pierre Bezukhov"
When the retreating Russians set fire to Moscow, the Rostovs fled their estates with wounded soldiers, unaware that Andrey was among them. Pierre, dressed as a peasant, tried to assassinate Napoleon, but was captured. As the French were forced to retreat, he was escorted with the army for several months until he was released by a commando. The French were defeated by Kutuzov at the Battle of Krasnoye. Andrei was recognized and taken to his estate. On the occasion of his death, he forgave Natasha. Soon Natasha was reunited with Pierre, and they married during the reconstruction of Moscow.
