On August 20, 1968, the Soviet Union invaded Czechoslovakia, and some Czechs vented their anger on the Soviet citizens living there.

On the 23rd, in the czechoslovak city of Košice, a Soviet female citizen, Valentina Belas, was stripped naked, painted with red paint, and paraded on the road. She was the wife of the Slovak officer Colonel Joseph Belas, who married her while studying in the Soviet Union, and in this way Valentina came to live in Czechoslovakia.

Valentina Bellas was lucky: soon she was hidden in a shop by a clerk, and the police rushed to protect her after hearing the news.
