According to the Nanning Evening News, a few days ago, well-known bird shooting enthusiasts "can't eat" and several friends recorded and photographed the "vanguard" of migratory birds in the survey of water birds in Sanniangwan, Qinzhou, Guangxi, who participated in the SEE Bird Flying Project in Sanniangwan, Qinzhou, Guangxi. It is reported that these water birds are the "advance troops" of autumn migratory birds, and there are more than ten kinds of migratory birds in the first batch, and many water birds are also on the way.

A large number of migratory birds migrate to Sanniang Bay

After squatting in Sanniangwan bay in Qinzhou for several consecutive days, well-known bird-shooting enthusiasts "can't eat" were pleasantly surprised to find that on the mud after low tide, more than 1,000 water birds stopped and foraged, among them, there were many national second-level protected animals such as the "clean" sandpiper, the white-waisted sandpiper, the middle sandpiper, and the gull-billed noisy gull.

It is worth mentioning that the great sandpiper is a globally endangered species, mainly distributed in Java, China, Africa, India, the Malay Peninsula, Indonesia and other regions. They will build their nests on grasses or low bushes near the water, and some dry grass and moss are the main materials for nesting.

Great Sandpiper

The breeding season of the great sandpiper is from June to August, and the female lays about 4 eggs per clutch, which is grayish yellow. Interestingly, the larger sandpiper is larger, 27 cm long, often walking on the beach or on the muddy ground by the water while foraging for food, and is known as a bird with a "cleanliness habit" (that is, unable to accept contaminated food). According to "Can't Eat", there are more than 100 large sandpipers who arrived in the first batch, and they either stop or forage on the mud after low tide, and the scene is spectacular.

In addition, the curved and slender, long-beaked scythe-like white-waisted sandpiper was also among the first migratory birds, a bird of the genus Sandpiper in the family Sandpiper family, with a light brown top and upper body, very similar to the great sandpiper. The bird often inhabits lakes, swamps, meadows and farmlands on and near the banks of rivers in forests and plains, and also occurs on coastal, estuarine sandbars and coastal swampy wetlands, especially in winter. It is worth noting that the population is sparse and showing a downward trend year by year.

According to the relevant person in charge of the "SEE Ren Bird Flying" ecological protection project, according to satellite tracking data, in fact, as early as the beginning of August, some migratory birds have arrived in Guangxi. Many waterbirds originally had their final destination in Australia, but those who entered the coast of Qinbeifang basically chose to overwinter here. It is reported that Guangxi is a stable wintering ground for water birds, and the rich and fertile tidal flats and good ecological environment provide rich food for migratory birds, becoming a resting place and "gas station" for migratory birds.
