Good guy Richard, not familiar.

This is the U.S. Navy's last generation of the "Good Guy Richard" (CV-31), the 14th Essex class fleet aircraft carrier, and the last Essex class with a short hull (waterline length of 265.8 meters, the last 10 ships lengthened by 5 meters), entered service in November 1944, participated in the Battle of Okinawa and air raids on the Japanese mainland.

The carrier was modernized in 1955 with a closed bow and angled flight deck, and after the Gulf of Tonkin Incident, the Good Guy Richard participated in the Vietnam War five times in the six years from 1964 to 1970, making it the most active American aircraft carrier in the early days of the Vietnam War.

Compared with the Midway class built at the end of World War II, the super conventional powered aircraft carriers "Forrest" class, "Kitty Eagle" class and "Enterprise" nuclear-powered aircraft carrier built after World War II, the improved "Essex" class is cramped, and can only carry a small number of large F-4 "Ghost II" carrier-based fighters, more F-8 "Crusader" carrier-based fighters and A-4 "Skyhawk" carrier-based attack aircraft.

In July 1971, the "Good Guy Richard" (CV-31) was decommissioned, and the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship No. 6, which was launched in 1996 and commissioned in 1998, was again named "Good Guy Richard" (LHD-6), but this good guy was not very good, and burned in July 2020 after a fire in San Diego, which could not be repaired, and "Acquaintance Richard" was forced to retire in April 2021.
