Greece's demand for Airbnb-style rentals surpassed that of Europe in the third quarter!

Analyst AirDNA said Greece led the way in European demand for Airbnb-style rentals, up 26.5 percent in the third quarter of this year compared to the same period before the pandemic in 2019.

More specifically, according to the latest data released by AirDNA, Greece saw the highest increase in short-term holiday rental demand between July and September this year compared to 2019, followed by Germany with a 26.4% increase, Austria (+17.5%) and France (+14.5%).

In June, Greece led again, with accommodations increasing by 27.2% compared to the same month in 2019. This was followed by Germany at 26.1 percent and France at 17.5 percent.

Greece also performed well in terms of occupancy rates in June, with occupancy rates rising 8.4 percent to third place, with demand up 27.2 percent and supply up 5.1 percent over 2019.

Italy topped the list with a 12.9% increase compared to 2019, followed by Portugal with a 12.2% increase compared to June 2019.

According to AirDNA, average daily house prices (ADRs) in Europe increased by 1.3% compared to 2021, but average daily house prices in Greece fell by 1.1% in the third quarter compared to last year.

However, the average daily house price in Greece rose by 7.3% in June compared to the same period last year.

Overall, demand for short-term rental accommodation continued to trend upward in June, according to AirDNA, with bookings increasing by 3.2% compared to June 2019. So far, demand has continued to rise every month in 2019. Q2 demand in Europe was 5.2% higher than in 2019 and 64.4% higher than in 2021. At the same time, Q1 2022 increased by 7.2% over 2019 and 67.5% from 2021.

Among the top 20 European countries in terms of demand, the largest year-on-year increases were in Croatia (+131.8%), Norway (+117.0%) and Hungary (+96.7%).

The countries with the lowest growth rates were Finland (+27.4%), the United Kingdom (+29.0%) and the Netherlands (+34.0%).

In a previous report, AirDNA said that the Short-term rental market in Greece is expected to hit a record high as demand grows in various regions of the country.
