If you happen to drop off at a restaurant in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia's capital) on a Wednesday or Friday and you're not sure what to eat, then Yetsom beyaynetu might be your best bet.

Yetsom beyaynetu does not represent a specific Ethiopian dish, but rather a vegetarian platter made from a vegan dish mixed with Injera. Yetsom means "fasting" and beyaynetu means "come a little bit for everything", so Yessom beyaynetu is essentially a platter-like fast.

On fasting days, only vegan food is served, so every Ethiopian restaurant in Addis Ababa offers some form of Yesom beyaynetu on Wednesdays and Fridays. They consist of different stews, curries and Injera, many of which are vegetarian specialties previously introduced.

And those two days are a good day to try as many vegetarian dishes as possible.

Like India, Ethiopia is one of the most likely places in the world to become a vegetarian, as evidenced by Yetsom beyaynetu.
