According to reports, on July 21, 2022, Beijing time, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) updated the Red List of Threatened Species, which shows that the Yangtze River endemic species Psephurus gladius has become extinct, and the Yangtze River Sturgeon (Acipenser dabryanus) is extinct in the wild. Globally, the Acipenser nudiventris Aral Sea subpopulation is extinct. The Red List also raises the protection level of seven other species of sturgeon.
