Because the Yellow River flows through Dongming County for 45 kilometers, forming a large area of tender beaches and wetlands, the Yellow River beach area of Dongming County covers an area of 317 square kilometers, with the continuous improvement of the ecological environment in recent years, it has become an important habitat for wild animals, and every year during the migratory bird migration season, precious endangered birds such as great bustards, gray cranes, giant swans, and bean geese inhabit and overwinter in Dongming County. In recent years, the number of great bustards in the wild is more than 100, and the number of bean geese is 30,000-40,000.
In order to comprehensively deepen the reform of the forest chief system and promote the further improvement of wildlife protection, in 2021, the Dongming County Forestry Bureau, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, planned in advance, responded in advance, established and improved the wildlife rescue system and the wildlife epidemic source disease monitoring and emergency response mechanism, and at the same time did a good job of publicity and material reserves.
Under the strong guidance of higher-level departments, the Dongming County Forestry Bureau has actively carried out wildlife shelter and rescue work. In the past month, a total of 18 wild animals have been rescued, including terrestrial wild animals rescued by the masses, as well as terrestrial wild animals seized and transferred by the forest police brigade; a total of 9 types of wild animals have been rescued, including the common owls, short-eared owls, kestrels, and longitudinal-bellied owls of wild animals under national key protection, and the white egret, a wild animal under key protection in Shandong Province, and the national "three haves" protected terrestrial wild animals. All wild animals that meet the conditions for release after rescue are released into the natural environment, and those that are not suitable for release are properly sheltered.
In recent years, with the increase of ecological environmental protection efforts at all levels, especially the staff of the forestry department of Dongming County, who are on duty day and night to escort the birds in the Yellow River beach area of Dongming, the number of birds has shown a trend of increasing year by year. According to monitoring, the total number of migratory birds roosting and overwintering in the Yellow River beach area of Dongming has reached 150,000. The improvement of the ecological environment and the protection of biodiversity, especially the protection of wild animals, can not be separated from the common participation and maintenance of the general public, Dongming County forestry department staff, before the arrival of the migratory bird migration season, to improve the publicity work, to win the broad support and participation of the whole society, at present, has been dispatched more than 120 times of propaganda vehicles, more than 500 publicity personnel, more than 6,000 copies of propaganda papers, hanging more than 120 banners of wildlife protection, the formation of the whole people to participate, severe crackdown, "all-weather, All-round " protecting the deep social atmosphere of wildlife.
