The world's largest sport fishing boat, 52 meters long, was formed at the Royal Huisman Shipyard
The 52-metre-long 406 project – known as the largest sport fishing boat currently under construction – has reached another important construction milestone as its aluminium superstructure is connected to the hull of the Royal Huisman Shipyard.
Commissioned by an experienced yachter and passionate fisherman, Project 406 is described as a "steroid angler". Designed by Dutch studio Vripack, the project features a towering silhouette spread over six decks, a long bow, high bulwark and a low, uncluttered fishing cockpit stern.
The installation of the superstructure at the Royal Huisman headquarters in Vollenhove was attended by a team of shipowners, shipbuilders, designers and expert consultants. Preparations and renovations are underway for the remaining four decks, with launch dates set for 2023.
Vripack was responsible for the project's naval architecture, striking exteriors and interiors, which have yet to be announced. This aluminium yacht combines the passion and experience of sport fishing with onboard facilities and equipment to hunt larger predatory fish such as swordfish and marlin. The tower will provide a viewing platform for the dedicated fishing area at the stern, where the yacht will be illuminated by laser-powered exterior lighting at night.
Speaking about the project, Jan Timmerman, CEO of Royal Huisman, said: "It's no secret that the Royal Huisman team loves the opportunity to solve new engineering challenges, especially if they come in the form of a unique project concept. ”

To bring such a unique project to life, Royal Huisman worked with owners' representatives and other team members, including Bush & Noble to provide expertise in sport fishing and classic yachting forms, and Hampshire Marine was responsible for the day-to-day technical aspects of the shipyard.
