In the last century, the United States invaded Vietnam, broke out the Vietnam War, and committed numerous crimes in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and other ASEAN countries:

In Vietnam: The U.S. military has used more than 15 million tons of bombs, mines and shells in Vietnam, of which about 800,000 tons are unexploded, scattered across nearly 20 percent of Vietnam's territory, leaving behind unexploded ordnance that has killed more than 40,000 people and injured more than 60,000 people, estimating that it will take 300 years to completely clear.

The U.S. military dropped about 2 million gallons of defoliant on the Ho Chi Minh Trail, infecting nearly 5 million Vietnamese, killing 400,000 people, suffering from cancer or other diseases, and many children born with deformities and disabilities.

In Laos: The U.S. military dropped 270 million tons of bombs, about 80 million of which were unexploded, killing more than 20,000 people by accidentally touching the bombs.

In Cambodia: The U.S. military has dropped more than 2.7 million tons of explosives into Cambodia, and the unexploded ordnance has killed nearly 20,000 Cambodians and maimed more than 45,000 people.
