Recently, Thai media quoted Xinhua News Agency as reporting on April 25 that the Luang Prabang Information, Culture and Tourism Office in northern Laos revealed that the region welcomed a total of 110,302 tourists during the 2024 Lao New Year. This is an increase of 364.44% over the same period last year.
Among the above statistics, there were more than 41,400 foreign tourists, of which Chinese tourists ranked first with 10,497 tourists, followed by Korean tourists with 5,541 tourists, Thai tourists with 4,284 tourists, and Vietnamese tourists with 2,843 tourists. This year, the Luang Prabang New Year festival is also bigger than usual, with the event running from April 10 to 20 and is the most important event in the region's "Visit Laos Year" program.
It is understood that Luang Prabang Province is located about 220 kilometers north of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, and is one of the most famous provinces in Laos and the most popular tourist attractions. It is home to historic temples and beautiful natural scenery, and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995.
