"I came to China for the South China Tigers"
According to Zhong Junhao, the captain of the South China Tigers team in the 21st season, there are many people who sign up for the South China Tigers every year, but most of the students who remain after undergoing layers of screening, training and preparation are students who are really enthusiastic about robots. Wu Silang, a member of the team, discovered the fun of robots after entering the university, "the pile of copper and iron, the machinery is actually very spiritual, and I can make them move."
Team member Zhu Junlong has been interested in machinery since childhood. In 2018, he happened to see the video of the South China Tigers' competition, in which the blue infantry robot rushed down from the heights and hit the opponent's robot at once attracted him, "(That scene) was particularly cool and bloody under the rendering of the lights on the field." When he volunteered for the college entrance examination, the first few majors he filled out were related to robots, and he chose South China University of Technology, "it can also be said that he wanted to join the South China Tiger Team."

"Growing up" with the robots around you
Team member Xu Jinglan knows that it will take at least one or two months to build a generation of robots, followed by testing, training and generation-to-generation optimization. The awareness of problem solving is an important embodiment of the engineer's thinking. There are still many places where the robot needs to be optimized in the early stage, and there are many faults such as mechanism breakage, code errors and even circuit board burnout. In order to solve the problem of a transmission component leading to the short life of the mechanism, Zhu Junlong will spend a day to come up with four or five optimization solutions, and then try them all in one night to try out the best efficiency and quality synthesis.
Perseverance is essential. From the beginning of the preparation, the players have devoted almost all of their spare time. By the July 2021 RoboMaster finals season, team members train with robot operators during the day every day, and then repair or assemble robots until night. "To ensure that the robot is always in a state of testing or maintenance, it cannot be stopped." Robots are evolving, and the players are growing.

A "South China Tiger" from sleeping to waking up
Things have not been smooth sailing. In October 2020, the veteran team members followed the team management method of the previous master brother and strictly managed the new team members who had recently joined the team. Zhu Junlong remembers that mistakes in processing are inevitably criticized and punished. A few months later, the South China Tigers entered a "trough period". The team made an appointment for a friendly match, but before the game, it found that its robot head could not move, and the attack agency was completely out of power; in the robot joint competition with several universities in South China in the same month, the South China Tigers team also had a poor record. Xu Zelong, a member of the team, described the South China Tigers as if "asleep" at this time.
In late March, the team held a plenary meeting to discuss the management of the team, the atmosphere, the relationship and estrangement of new and old team members. One of the brothers mentioned a former player of the team, "When recruiting new recruits, his basic ability was not enough, but he was left behind because he had light in his eyes", and then he added, "I see that there is gradually light in your eyes." Speaking of this, the team members are a little touched, "Everyone has enthusiasm, faith, and a sense of glory, which is the most important thing." ”

"I don't feel anything but passion"
In August 2021, at the "Spring Cocoon" Gymnasium in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, the RoboMaster 2021 Mecha Masters Super Confrontation National Tournament came. The South China Tigers played from two or three o'clock in the afternoon to two o'clock in the morning, and it is impossible to count how many games were played. Zhu Junlong is the one who went to the field and is responsible for testing and repairing the robot. The environment is even more exciting: the lights hit the arena, and the robots of the red and blue sides fight fiercely in the middle of the field. In the finals, all the participating teams came in to watch, and the audience was full of lights, slogans, teammates and other teams supporting the South China Tigers shouting their slogans, "At that time, nothing but passion was felt." ”
At the end of the competition, the South China Tigers team won the third place in the country. The moment the participating teammates stepped out of the field, Xu Jinglan, who was waiting in the waiting area, did not hold back and shed tears, "Everyone is fighting, working hard to achieve the same dream, it is amazing to have such a group of good brothers." "Behind the robot is a lot of creativity. Some scattered parts, under the whimsy of people have vitality, to achieve some interesting functions, as if they have been injected into the soul.
