Since then, Kagame has been living in exile with his parents in Uganda as a refugee.
Kagame, who was in exile in Uganda, had a hard life but excelled in his studies. Later, he ranked first in the whole district and was admitted to the best Ntale Secondary School in Uganda at that time. At that time, many Ugandans liked to bully Tutsi refugees, and as long as Kagame saw him, he must have beaten him without saying a word. So Kagame decided to join Museveni's guerrilla group, where he felt he could build up his strength and might one day lead his exiled compatriots back to Rwanda. In this way, Kagame went up the mountain, and he became one of the 27 people who originally followed Museveni in guerrilla warfare.
Kagame quickly became Museveni's confidant because of his leadership and strategy, and in 1986 Museveni led 14,000 resistance troops to capture the Ugandan capital, and Museveni became the new president. Kagame and Rufiyema also became senior military officers, but Kagame did not forget his desire to return to Rwanda.
With Museveni's acquiescence, Kagame and Ruwiyema formed the Rwandan Patriotic Front for Tutsi refugees and began to gather strength to prepare for a return to Rwanda.
In 1990, the President of Rwanda secretly flew to France to seek military assistance. The French general who received him at the time asked the Rwandan chief of staff, "What do you want so much ammunition for?" The Chief of Staff of Rwanda said bluntly: "We need machine guns and cannons against the Patriotic Front and the killing of the shameless Tutsi people in the country." However, I did not expect that the Rwandan government troops with new weapons were still beaten to the teeth by the Patriotic Front, and they chose to negotiate peace with the Patriotic Front when they saw that they could not defeat the Rwandan government troops. Who knew that radical Hutu elements had directly killed the president who wanted peace talks and blamed the Tutsi.
Thus the Hutu of Rwanda unleashed a massacre of the Tutsi, and the Hutu of the whole country poured out of their nests, and they were like evil spirits, killing the Tutsi with any weapon they could find. Formerly amiable neighbors rushed in with machetes, former friends and colleagues became butchers and lambs, and even began to kill among relatives, they cut and killed their Tutsi relatives, and even husbands killed wives, sons-in-law killed mothers-in-law, children killed biological parents, and other acts of conscience. Everyone was red-eyed, ironically, feeling that what they were doing was full of justice and was doing harm to the country.
There are even some extreme Hutu elements in order to completely destroy the Tutsi. Allowing people infected with AIDS to rape Tutsi women has achieved the goal of cutting the grass and removing the roots. Between 250,000 and 500,000 women were raped in this massacre, and the sounds of gunshots, explosions, cries, pleas for forgiveness, cursing, and glass smashing, machetes into bones, came and went. The whole of Rwanda has become a bloody shura field, full of corpses, swarms of flies, and the air is filled with a pungent smell of decay. Rwanda has become a veritable hell on earth, and even their mother and Akagueira are completely filled with corpses.
Kagame, the leader of the Patriotic Front, called on the United Nations to intervene to stop the massacre in the international community, but both the United Nations and the West chose to turn a blind eye. Some European countries even secretly supplied weapons to the Rwandan government, and Kagame chose to use force to end it after knowing that international mediation was hopeless.
Under the attack of the Patriotic Front, the paper-pasted government forces were soon completely defeated.
