Yang Changqin, 31 years old this year, because of her "love at first sight" of bamboo weaving, has grown from an apprentice to a provincial non-hereditary heir through hard work and study of bamboo weaving skills. In order to develop the bamboo weaving industry, she founded Chishui Hand in Hand Bamboo Art Development Co., Ltd., leading the masses to increase their income and become rich.

Learn the art of bamboo weaving carefully

Born in Yinjiang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, Tongren City, Yang Changqin, as one of the 10 student representatives of Yinjiang National Vocational School, came to Chishui to learn bamboo weaving craftsmanship in 2007, and studied under Chen Wenlan, a top-notch local talent in Guizhou Province and a master of chishui bamboo weaving arts and crafts. After the end of the study, the 9 girls in the company chose to return to Yinjiang, and Yang Changqin offered to stay in Chishui, and since then she has formed an indissoluble relationship with bamboo weaving.

Bamboo weaving belongs to the fine work, a finished product to go through more than 20 processes such as bamboo selection, splitting, drawing, weaving, etc., the requirements are very high, and it tests people's patience. Yang Changqin often sat on a stool all day, the cocoon on her hands getting thicker and thicker, but she never cried bitterly and tired.

"She can calm down and is very talented." This is master Chen Wenlan's evaluation of her.

Yang Changqin studied with her master for 10 years, honing her skillful bamboo weaving skills, which is not only fast, but also of good quality. Gradually, her bamboo weaving skills surpassed Chen Wenlan's. In this regard, Chen Wenlan is very happy, "When the master hopes to teach a good apprentice, only the blue is better than the blue, in order to make the bamboo weaving process better inherited and developed." ”

Yang Changqin also through her own hard work, bold innovation, the combination of bamboo weaving and tea sets, wine utensils, vases and other practical utensils, created a three-dimensional bamboo weaving process, gave bamboo weaving this traditional skill a new life, so that the public has a new understanding of the bamboo weaving process.

For more than ten years, Yang Changqin's bamboo weaving works have won dozens of handicraft awards inside and outside the province, and she herself was named the inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Guizhou Province in 2014.

Bigger and stronger bamboo weaving industry

Through unremitting efforts, Yang Changqin's bamboo weaving skills continue to improve, and her income is also increasing, but she is not satisfied with the status quo, but founded Chishui Hand in Hand Bamboo Art Development Co., Ltd., and created a set of production, processing, sales, training, demonstration, experience as one of the intangible bamboo weaving production and research base, most of the trainees are local rural women.

At present, there are more than 100 students in the intangible cultural heritage bamboo weaving production, education and research base. The bamboo weaving industry has directly or indirectly driven the number of flexible employees in Datong Town and its surroundings to more than 3,000 people.

At the same time, Yang Changqin's company's sales market was further expanded, and the bamboo handicrafts developed were exported to china and abroad. In 2021, the company's output value is nearly 20 million yuan, with 34 registered trademarks, 12 invention patents, and a number of products have been listed in the national poverty alleviation products.

"Our company named 'Hand in Hand' is to hope to be able to join hands with more people to get rich and help rural revitalization." Yang Changqin said that she will uphold the original intention, inherit and develop the bamboo weaving technology well, make the bamboo weaving industry bigger and stronger, and drive more people to get rich.
