The documentary "See You Again Sanxingdui" airs tonight, Thunderstorm: Archaeologists don't believe in luck

"In 1980, I walked into Peking University and chose to major in archaeology, and since then I have formed an indissoluble relationship with the vast land of the motherland. In 1984, I walked out of Yanyuan and walked into Sanxingdui... Although many of sanxingdui's discoveries are accidental, there is actually an inevitability in chance. We archaeologists never believe in luck, and archaeologists only believe in the reward of heavenly rewards. Recalling the fate of decades and Sanxingdui, Lei Yu, a researcher at the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and the director of the archaeological workstation of the Sanxingdui site, was full of emotions.

This evening (29), Sichuan Tv's large-scale archaeological documentary "See Sanxingdui Again" built by Sichuan and Taiwan will be broadcast on CCTV Record Channel and Sichuan Satellite TV, and the first episode of "Reunion" will focus on the thunderstorm.

Lei Yu missed the on-site excavation of the No. 1 and No. 2 sacrifice pits of the Sanxingdui site in 1986 due to illness, and in 2019, the No. 3 sacrifice pit was discovered, which opened his "reunion" with the Sanxingdui sacrifice pit. In the following months, pits 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 were confirmed.

"In 1986, I was in a physical condition, tuberculosis, and went back to my hometown in Chongqing to recuperate, so I missed the excavation of Pit 1 and Pit 2 perfectly, and I felt a little sorry." As an archaeologist, thunderstorms are undoubtedly lucky. He finally made up for this regret when he was about to retire. After 34 years, Sanxingdui restarted excavations, and the pressure of thunderstorms ensued, and he not only had to participate in the excavation of the sacrificial area, but more importantly, he also had to compile the previous archaeological excavation reports of Sanxingdui.

After 34 years, the excavation technology and conditions are no longer what they used to be. The excavations in 1986 were emergency rescue excavations, and archaeologists went to the battlefield without any preparation; today's excavations are active excavations with clear academic purposes and excavation plans.

From the soil environment monitoring before excavation to the establishment of archaeological cabins at the excavation site, in this round of excavations, on-site excavation and cultural relics protection are carried out simultaneously and cooperate with each other, which ensures the stability of the buried environment of cultural relics to the greatest extent. The multidisciplinary research carried out simultaneously with the excavation has brought together experts and scholars from more than 40 universities, scientific research institutions and cultural institutions at home and abroad, which has brought richer thinking angles and more diversified technical routes to restore the historical appearance of Sanxingdui. The re-excavation of Sanxingdui, which gathers the top academic and technical forces in the Chinese archaeological community today, has opened in the world's attention.

For the thunderstorm that has been waiting in Sanxingdui for 37 years, there is always a question in the heart: the bronze civilization of Sanxingdui came too suddenly, it seems to come out of nowhere, and as soon as it appears, it will amaze the world, why is this? When Thunderstorm reunites with the Sanxingdui Sacrifice Pit, he will walk into the scenes buried in the depths of history with the questions in his heart.

From reunion to questioning, we imagine what happened here more than three thousand years ago? As one of the capitals of the ancient Shu Kingdom, what kind of life did the Sanxingdui people live? What is their religion? And what kind of connection did it maintain with the Shang Dynasty in the Central Plains? These questions are still controversial even in academia, but can these controversies be found in this excavation today? Tonight, the CCTV Documentary Channel and Sichuan Satellite TV will broadcast "See You Again Sanxingdui" to reveal the secret for you.
