A kindergarten in Sugarcane Street, Minhou County, held an indoor life experience class in the garden life workshop to guide children to learn some basic life skills and improve their hands-on ability. However, during the experience, a child was accidentally scratched by the operating knife and ruptured the tendon of the ring finger of the right hand.
After the incident, the teacher informed the children's parents as soon as possible, and immediately accompanied the children and parents to the hospital for treatment. Afterwards, a dispute arose over the handling of liability insurance and compensation, and the Sugarcane Judicial Office of the Minhou County Bureau of Justice was requested to mediate.

The people's mediator analyzed the possible responsibilities of the kindergarten from a legal point of view, and at the same time informed the parents of the items and standards of compensation within the framework of the law; and then carried out patient mediation from the aspects of the reputation and long-term development of the kindergarten, proposing that the kindergarten, as the faulty party, should bear the responsibility, so as to minimize the differences between the two sides.
After mediation, the two parties finally reached a compensation agreement: the kindergarten paid a one-time compensation of 20,000 yuan to the parents of the children (compensation fees, nutrition fees and all other expenses), and cooperated with the parents of the children to handle the settlement procedures of the school liability insurance.
