GUANGZHOU, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Autonomous driving technology company WeRide officially launched China's first front-loading mass-produced fully driverless sanitation vehicle (Robosweeper) on April 28, and announced that it will conduct public road tests in Nansha District, Guangzhou, starting in May, with the first fleet of more than 50 units.
The fully driverless sanitation vehicle is jointly designed and produced by Wenyuan Zhixing and Yutong Group, creating a cockpit-free design and a front-loading mass production model without steering wheel, throttle and brake pedal. Equipped with L4 level automatic driving software and hardware solutions, it can achieve safe operation of all unmanned, all-day and all-weather. In the unmanned mode, a variety of urban sanitation operations such as road cleaning, sprinkling water and dust, spraying sanitize can be carried out.
Wenyuan Zhixing has also developed an exclusive cloud control platform for fully unmanned sanitation vehicles, as a command center and brain, which can view the operation route, operation status and automatic driving status in real time, realize the functions of intelligent scheduling, automatic wake-up, remote dispatch, route management and other functions of the vehicle, and complete the daily maintenance work such as automatic charging, water addition, sewage discharge, start-up, parking and so on without human intervention.
It is understood that Wenyuan Zhixing's fully driverless sanitation team has been assembled in Nansha District, Guangzhou City, and will open a large-scale open road test in May, covering the entire area of Nansha District, and the first batch of fleets will exceed 50 units.
This road test will adopt the mode of combining technology and operation test to customize the full unmanned road test plan. In order to assist in the response to special public health events such as the new crown epidemic, the model also adds a spray sanitize function, which can achieve zero contact throughout the whole process to complete the sanitize of designated areas.
