Since ancient times, the wind and snow moon have been one of the most chanted subjects in ancient poetry. Ancient literati and inkers had a lot of fun to enjoy flowers, and orchids, plum blossoms, chrysanthemums, lotuses, peonies, peonies and other famous flowers were extremely popular in ancient times. There has been no shortage of poems about flower viewing throughout the ages.
For example, Tao Yuanming's "Picking chrysanthemums under the eastern fence, leisurely seeing the South Mountain", Zhou Dunyi's "Love lotus out of the mud without dyeing", as well as Du Mu's "Yingshui Orchid Rain And Fragrance", Lu You's Famous Sentence of Yongmei "Zero fall into mud and dust, only incense as it was" and so on are all well-known Famous Sayings of Yonghua.
The ancients appreciated flowers not only depicting the posture and style of flowers, but also extracting a spirit from the temperament of flowers, such as the seclusion of chrysanthemums, the chastity of lotuses, the style of orchids, the proud bones of plums, and so on. The poet Yonghua is actually using the spiritual symbol of the flower to express his emotions and his own discipline.
Today, I would like to introduce you to a Song poem of Yonghua, and enjoy Li Qingzhao's "Partridge Heavenly Osmanthus Flower":
"
Partridge Day Osmanthus Flower
Song Li Qingzhao
Dull light yellow body soft,
The love is far away and only remains.
Why light turquoise and deep red,
It is the first class among flowers.
Mei Ding is jealous, Ju Ying is ashamed,
Paint the opening of the crown Mid-Autumn Festival.
Rioters can think ruthlessly,
What happened that year did not see the harvest.
"
Mid-autumn is the time when the osmanthus blossoms bloom, although the osmanthus flowers are small, but the whole cluster is open, the flower color is yellowish and elegant, and the floral fragrance is rich and intoxicating. In ancient times, people would enjoy osmanthus flowers, drink osmanthus wine, and eat osmanthus cakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival. These customs are still passed down in modern life today.
Li Qingzhao's osmanthus word can be said to be the most classic one among the osmanthus words of the past. Shang Yan describes the color and fragrance form of the osmanthus flower, "dim light yellow body softness, love estranged far away only fragrant" only fourteen words will express the beauty of the osmanthus flower vividly: light color, soft and fragrant, plain and soft on the outside, and inside there is a trace of distant feelings, leaving only fragrant beauty.
And the last two sentences "why light blue deep red, since it is the first class in the flower" is to discuss the words, the ancient flowers are mostly beautiful in red, followed by the blue color, such as forcing the peony; but this sentence "why need" the word will be light blue crimson strokes away, only the promotion of the color of light fragrance, the long-term high quality of the osmanthus flowers, as "the first class in the flowers"!
The next one is all about it, saying that plum blossoms and chrysanthemums should be jealous and ashamed in front of the osmanthus flowers, and the osmanthus flowers should be the crown of a hundred flowers in the Mid-Autumn Festival! The last sentence turns to criticize the ancients Qu Yuan's lack of sentiment. Qu Yuan's "Leaving sorrow" received the name Hua Zhenhui, but he was the only one who lacked osmanthus flowers, which can be described as a thousand years of hatred. Ending with a criticism of the ancients, it is actually another praise for the beauty of osmanthus flowers.
Li Qingzhao's "Partridge Heavenly Osmanthus Flower" does not depict the posture of the osmanthus flower in much, only two sentences: "Dim light yellow body is soft, the emotion is far away and only fragrant", but it has both form and spirit, and the external beauty and inner character of the osmanthus flower are vividly expressed. Especially the last sentence: "Why should it be light blue and deep red, since it is the first class among flowers" has created a good name for osmanthus flowers throughout the ages!
