IT Home april 25 news, "meta-universe company" Meta Platform (formerly Facebook) will open on May 9 in Burlingame, California, the United States, will showcase VR hardware equipment through retail points.
After opening on May 9, visitors can try out and purchase Meta's Portal video phone and Quest VR headset. They will also demonstrate ray-Ban Stories smart glasses that debuted last year.
Meta's store will include a Portal demo area where users can test their video calling capabilities with store staff, and Quest 2, including Beat Saber, GOLF+, Real VR Fishing, and Supernatural, it learned. They can also try on different styles of Ray-Ban glasses that use a built-in camera for video capture and sharing, and can test their functionality before purchasing.
In addition, Meta has added a "Store" tab to its website to make it easier to find all its products online in one place.
Compared to google retail stores, it looks a bit small. The 1,550-square-foot store is located near Meta's Reality Labs headquarters at 322 Airport Avenue, Burlingame, rather than in a major suburb like Google's Manhattan.
And the Meta store is open Monday to Friday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, which is not prime shopping time. Martin Gilliard, head of the Meta store, said Burlingame's location "gives us more opportunities to experiment and put customer experience at the heart of our growth" and that the lessons learned from it will "help define our future retail strategy."
