On Monday (April 25), local time, THE US-based Meta Platforms, Inc. announced on its official website that it will open its first physical retail store , "Meta Store".

The Meta Store will open on May 9 in Burlingame, California, where consumers can try out video calling device Portal, smart glasses Ray-Ban Stories, and virtual reality (VR) headset Quest 2 live, the press release said.

Consumers can purchase Portal and Quest 2 and their accessories on-site at the store, but Ray-Ban Stories can only buy them online. In response, Meta has added a "Store" tab to its website for consumers to buy online.

The 1,550-square-foot (about 144-square-meter) brick-and-mortar store "offers an immersive experience despite being relatively small," the press release reveals. ”

Martin Gilliard, head of meta store, wrote, "Once people experience the technology, they can enjoy it better. If they agree with the product, they tell their friends, 'You should also go to the Meta Store.' ”

Meta wants consumers who come to the store to truly feel its products and interact with the store staff. Gilliard said, "This store gives us more opportunities to experiment and put customer experience at the heart of our business growth." ”

The shop will be open from 11:00 to 18:00 local time from Monday to Friday. Gilliard added: "We don't sell the concept of 'metaverse' directly in the Meta Store, but rather let people understand how our products help them connect with the metacosm." ”
