World Book Day| What Children's Favorite Book (Part 2)

Science makes dreams come true

Author: Yang Haoze Shenzhen Science High School Wuyuan Primary School Class 4 (2).

One of my favorite books is French science fiction writer Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, and it means a lot to me. I have never seen schools of fish of different shapes swimming among the aquatic plants that lead straight to the sky, nor have I imagined the thrill of a bloody battle with octopus; I have never seen the wonders of the Black Current and the Sargasso Sea in the Pacific Ocean, nor have I ever thought that I could gain so much by reading this book.

The story goes like this: In 1866, Mr. Aronnax was invited to the ocean with his servants to clear the mysterious sea monster, and they met Captain Nemo on the Nautilus with a Canadian whaler named Ned Rand, and the strange adventure officially began, and a unique feast of marine knowledge began before my eyes.

The author's Nautilus has a hard shell, sharp angle of impact, excellent ecological circulation system and powerful electricity. In that era, submarines were merely the product of fantasy, a design that went beyond the forefront of technology at the time and was pure science fiction. Now, however, this has become the most basic navigation technology. Modern submarines can carry nuclear bombs, potentially be silent underwater for months, become the underwater ghost that destroys everything in the eyes of the enemy, it can dive down to the Mariana Trench, live broadcast the hidden world of the deep sea, or it can float like a drifting bottle on the surface of the water, watching the first rays of morning light rise on the farthest horizon.

The technology described in Verne's science fiction novels is now an undeniable reality, which really excites me and makes me more confident that technology can change everything. It gave me a vision and yearning for the future world, and also made me fascinated by science fiction. Since the science fiction dreams of our predecessors have become a reality, will our current scientific dreams come true one day? After that, I read all of Verne's works in one sitting, and also read Asimov's "Galactic Empire" and Liu Cixin's "Three-Body Problem", I explored this new world that was different from the land under my feet, and I became deeply interested in the universe and all the unknowns. This book is like a key, but also like a leader, helped me open the door to the world of science fiction, but also made science my firm belief.

Just as people in the 19th century wanted to cross the ocean, people today have never stopped exploring the sea of stars. On April 16, three astronauts returned from the Chinese space station and landed safely. Their return represents another step forward in the motherland's aerospace industry. I want to study hard, follow their example, become a learned and intelligent person, like Captain Nemo in the book, to explore areas that have not been touched by human beings, to turn the extraordinary technology in science fiction into a reality that is beneficial to the long-term development of mankind, to realize the dreams that the predecessors did not achieve, and to compose the poems they failed to compose.

Author: Zhao Zhixiang Class 4 (1) of Loucun Primary School in Guangming District

There are many books I like, such as "Journey to the West", "Water Margin", "Dream of the Red Chamber", "100,000 Whys", "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", "Little Hero Rain", "How Steel is Made" and so on. But one of my favorite books is How Steel is Made. I think without it, I might not have the strong me I am today.

I remember that it was the first semester of the third grade, in a math test, my grades were unexpectedly poor, in the face of a blow that had never been felt before, I was discouraged, cold, discouraged, lost confidence, since then my face lost the smile of the past, my grades began to change from "excellent" to "good", from "good" to "medium", from "medium" to "poor". I am always praised, but when I encounter these setbacks, I fall down "vulnerable", and there is unspeakable uneasiness and pain in my heart.

Every day since then, I have lived in darkness and loneliness, and the scolding voices of my parents, the strange eyes of my classmates, and the teacher's incomprehension have made me miserable, and I inadvertently read this good book "How Steel is Made". Open the book, the title page reads this line: Life is struggling! Although this sentence is short, it makes so much sense. Yes, in the long journey of life, setbacks are inevitable, but as long as you struggle and fight, then you will add a brilliant page to your life. Unconsciously, this ordinary sentence made me regain my self-confidence, and I secretly resolved that I must overcome difficulties and strive hard.

A few weeks passed, my hard work in exchange for the desired results, I deeply know that good books give me infinite strength, good books give me confidence. In this way, I can get back on my feet, I can put in more effort than others, and I can get myself to the other side of success.

Books are the source of knowledge, only if you deeply understand the feelings can have a harvest, you see I am influenced and helped by this good book, there is today's learning excellent me.

This is one of my favorite books, and it has given me great help and encouragement.

Do you want to explore? Do you want to know the secrets of the depths of the sea? Then read "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" and follow Captain Nemo to the depths of the sea.

The story begins with the appearance of an unknown monster larger than a whale at sea, known as a "narwhal", so the famous Professor Aronnax accepts the quest to find out, along with his servant Connor and Canadian Ned Rand. After searching for many days, they still found no trace, and just when they were about to give up, they found a very blinding light, and the ship was hit and sunk into the sea. When I woke up, I found that the "narwhal" that people called it turned out to be a submarine that was very exquisite in shape and function. Captain Nemo embarked on an undersea tour with them. They went through many difficulties, but finally entered the whirlpool. Aronnax, servant Connor, and Canadian Ned Rand escaped in a dinghy. When they successfully return to their own country, people's puzzles and doubts are solved. The "narwhal" that people call it is not a creature, but a submarine for lovers of the underwater world.

From this book, we can feel the excitement of exploration, we can also learn a lot about the sea, and more importantly, this book uses various natural stories to warn human beings to pay attention to the dangerous behavior that harms human beings themselves - harming nature. Humans should not kill animals indiscriminately, but should learn how to get along with animals.
