Academician Han Qide opened the launch ceremony and delivered a speech: "Today's human world view is expanded by science. People have to learn a lot of things in their lifetime, and it is impossible to rely on school education alone. So read books, read the classics. ”

Professor Lu Bai said: "When we read scientific classics today, we are not simply popularizing science or learning scientific knowledge, nor are we simply looking back at the history of science and admiring the great men of science. More importantly, we must draw the spirit of science from the process of reading scientific classics. ”

Yu Minhong believes: "Relying on science and technology cannot solve all the problems of human society. Such as war, hunger, hatred, etc., but science can partially eliminate human ignorance. ”。

The vast sea of scientific works, coupled with the high threshold, is easy to be daunting, so it is necessary to have an authoritative recommended bibliography and a master-led guide. In 2021, the Alpine Science Promotion Center and Professor Wu Guosheng led the launch of the "Alpine Science Classics" project, inviting a number of scientists to recommend scientific books, and finally formed a bibliography of 100 "Alpine Science Classics". The bibliography includes 15 old classics, 25 scientific masterpieces, 15 popular science history, 5 famous works of science historians, 20 biographies of scientists, 5 masterpieces of philosophers of science, and 15 masterpieces of philosophy of scientists.

The 1st-2nd edition of the Alpine Science Classics Guide was released at the same time as the Observatory. Academician Zhou Zhonghe read "The Origin of Species", and Professor Wu Guosheng introduced "From One to Infinity". In the roundtable session, Xu Zhisheng, Ta Tara, Li Yongle, Bi Dao, Gong Fan and other content creators were invited to participate in the discussion, and in the high-density scientific content sharing and humorous and relaxed atmosphere, cross-border sparks were constantly rubbed out, which also echoed the meaning of "science 36.5 °C": science is no longer high and cold, and the temperature of 365 days is human.

In the future, these 100 carefully selected scientific classic books will be coordinated and distributed by Guomai Culture, and the Alpine Science Classics Guide Will also be carried out in a live broadcast every Saturday, and a scientist will be invited to guide each issue, aiming to lead everyone to read science books in a relaxed, interesting and professional scientific way.
