On the evening of April 23, the new book sharing activity of "Four Books (Translation)" sponsored by Sichuan Xinhua Publishing and Distribution Group Co., Ltd. and Xinhua Wenxuan Publishing and Media Co., Ltd. and undertaken by Bashu Book Club was held in Chengdu.
The four authors of the vernacular translation of the book also attended the event, and they shared their reading feelings about this traditional classic and how to better inherit and carry forward the traditional cultural classics at present, focusing on the theme of "returning to the classics, reading the classics, inheriting the classics; not forgetting the original, absorbing the outside, and facing the future".

The four authors of "Four Books (Translations)" were at the sharing meeting
Generally speaking, during the Han and Tang dynasties, the "Five Classics" (Yi, Shu, Shi, Li, and Spring and Autumn) were revered, and after the Song and Yuan Dynasties, the "Four Books" ("University", "Zhongyong", "Analects", and "Mencius") were revered, so the "Four Books and Five Classics" were used to summarize the Confucian classics in history.
For beginners, the text of the "Five Classics" as a whole is more ancient, and the Confucian thought in it is not very clear and easy to understand, while the "Four Books" text is relatively popular and the reason is clear. Generally speaking, after studying the "Four Books" and having a basic understanding of the Confucian principles, then reading other books will receive the effect of doubling the results with half the effort.
The "Four Books (Translations)" newly launched by the Bashu Book Society is based on the "Four Books and Chapters and Sentences" engraved by Wu Zhizhong during the Qing Jiaqing period, and refers to the previous editions of the "Four Books", the annotated books of each family and the excavated documents, and chooses the good and follows. In order to avoid cumbersomeness, the correction of the place is not out of the collation survey. Its difficult words are annotated with the text in the form of small characters, and strive to be rigorous and accurate, concise and concise. Its vernacular translation aims to be "accurate, concise, fluent and beautiful", with the goal of facilitating recitation and dissemination. The layout adopts the design of the contrast between the text and the white, the left and right columns, and the illustrations in the "Sacred Traces" and "Mencius Sacred Relics" engraved by Gu Shiyantang in the sixth year of Daoguang, the overall design is elegant and simple, and the atmosphere is restrained.
The four vernacular translation authors of The Four Books (Translations) are Wang Qitao, dean of the School of Chinese and Chinese Literature of Southwest University for Nationalities, Yang Shiwen, researcher of the Institute of Ancient Books of Sichuan University, Wen Junyuan, distinguished researcher of the Institute of Higher Education of Sichuan Normal University, and Zhang Hui, lecturer of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. At last night's sharing meeting, they not only introduced the development process of the "Four Books" text from the perspective of the history of scripture, explained the characteristics, characteristics and how to read the book, but also read and explained a passage of their own choice Chinese words for the readers on the spot.
The Four Books (Translation) are beautifully bound
One of the most touching is Wen Junyuan's sharing. He told everyone that he had been familiar with the Four Books since he was a child, and most of them could be memorized. A few years ago, he unfortunately fell seriously ill and "almost died" in danger. In the process of painful treatment, lying on the hospital bed, he could not read, so he silently recited the chapters of the Four Books in his heart, from which he really got the power of many spiritual beliefs. "I would like to say that if we ourselves (for the classics) can read more well, after reading for a long time, we will naturally have some gains." The sincere sharing of the four translated authors won a burst of warm applause from the readers at the scene.
