On April 20, LEXUS' exclusive pure electric model, the new RZ, was officially launched in the world.
Since the launch of the brand's first electrified model, the RX 400h, in 2005, LEXUS has become an application of electrification technology for the luxury car market. With this in mind, the LEXUS team has forged ahead to create many of the brand's electrified models that combine drivability and environmental characteristics.
In 2019, thanks to LEXUS's Lexus Electrified vision, the core concept of brand electrification evolved again. LEXUS expects to inspire a pure love of driving pleasure through electrification technology. Based on this, LEXUS continues to enrich its electrified product lineup covering hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and all-electric (BEV) models, and will continue to meet the diverse needs and expectations of luxury car users.
The rich electrification portfolio will also help Lexus achieve another key goal: to achieve a sustainable social environment and contribute to a "carbon neutral" society. All LEXUS vehicle lines will be available in all-electric versions by 2030 and are expected to be 100% pure electrification worldwide by 2035. To meet this series of challenges, LEXUS has joined hands with a professional R&D team to repeatedly adjust vehicles at the brand's new operational headquarters, the Xiashan Technical Center, and continuously improve its electrification products based on strict standards.
As the exclusive pure electric model launched by LEXUS for the global market, the new RZ presents a unique LEXUS electrification design style and driving texture with advanced electrification technology, marking the brand will open the brand evolution with pure electric models as the core.
In terms of driving performance, the new RZ is based on LEXUS's new exclusive pure electric platform, using a lightweight, high-rigid body, through the rational layout of batteries and electric motors to achieve a balanced weight distribution, the basic performance of the vehicle has been greatly improved. In addition, the new RZ uses the new Steel by Wire variable ratio electronic steer-by-wire steering system, coupled with the DIRECT4 electronic dynamic four-wheel drive system, the vehicle control is more faithful to the driver's intentions, bringing a sense of control that moves at will.
At the same time, the new RZ is also equipped with a unique AVS simulation sound wave system, which provides timely feedback to the driver on subtle changes in vehicle condition. The R&D team has carefully polished the "LEXUS Driving Signature" at the Xiashan Technical Center to take the Lexus Driving Signature to a whole new level.
The exterior design of the new RZ highlights the characteristics of pure electric models: a smooth and linear acceleration experience and dynamic performance with plenty of power. With no need to consider the cooling and exhaust needs of the engine, the pure electric model can focus more on aerodynamic performance. Lexus' signature spindle grille has evolved into a "spindle body" on the new RZ.
The unique design style combines unique body proportions to interpret LEXUS's new electrification aesthetic standard and point the way for the brand's future electrified product design. Underneath the spindle-shaped body, the comfortable and spacious cockpit uses a minimalist design language, with a variety of environmentally friendly and textured materials, interpreting a simple and elegant luxury space, highlighting the sustainable travel concept advocated by LEXUS Lexus and adhering to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
In addition, the new RZ is equipped with an electrochromic panoramic canopy, which makes the cockpit space more open and transparent. Combined with leg heating for the first time in LEXUS Lexus, it further enhances the luxury travel experience.
