On February 18, 2022, I met with Wang Yifu, director of the review department of our company, and Li Yiyang, assistant editor of the editorial department of literary and art books, and met teacher Zhang Guimei at huaping children's welfare institute.

Mr. Li Yanguo told us that when he was collecting wind in Huaping, he got along with Teacher Zhang Guimei very well. He regarded Teacher Zhang as his sister or daughter, and when Teacher Zhang told her about her own life experience, he and she sometimes laughed together, and sometimes cried together, like two old naughty children. Ms. Wang Xiuli, who has been with Teacher Zhang for more than ten years, drives her own cute mini car every day, carrying Teacher Zhang back and forth between the Children's Home and Huaping Girls' High School, accompanies Teacher Zhang's home visit, and talks with Teacher Zhang. Therefore, we have always believed that "Zhang Guimei" created by Mr. Li Yanguo and Ms. Wang Xiuli with all their painstaking efforts must have won the recognition of Teacher Zhang.

However, in order to respect the master, when the manuscript editing work was almost done, three of us came to Huaping and asked Ms. Wang Xiuli for the opinion of Teacher Zhang Guimei in person.
What we did not expect was that after carefully reading the manuscript, Teacher Zhang deleted a lot of content with his pen and put forward some other revision requirements.
First, famous quotes involving foreign thinkers and writers such as Hugo, Hegel, Romain Rolland and others are not used. "Doesn't our country have its own golden phrase? Look at so many classics cited by General Secretary Xi Jinping in his speech, they are all from our own country. If you want to use it, use our own golden sentences, and use fewer or no foreign quotes. ”
The second is the chapter about "full-time wife" in the manuscript, she suddenly raised her voice, looking a little angry, "I have said it several times, don't mention this matter again, let go of the girl!" She went on to say, "The full-time wife incident reported by Phoenix TV continued to ferment on the Internet, and the result caused a lot of trouble to the girl, and she had a very bad life." Some things, even if the starting point is good, but once amplified by the media, they may develop in a direction that we cannot predict. In this regard, we must deal with it well and do not cause trouble for others! ”
The third is about the chapter of "Moisturizing Things Silently", Teacher Gui Mei asked for the full text to be deleted, and we feel that such a wonderful text, once deleted, is a pity. She smiled lightly and said, "There are still many stories, and these stories still have honors, we can stay in the next book to tell." ”
Regarding the words of honor and political argument, we had a dispute with Teacher Gui Mei. The text is interspersed with many descriptions of Gui Mei's various honors, and she advocates deleting them all, "Everything I have belonged to the party", she said, "I did not do these things for honor!" Otherwise, with these honors, I can not do anything, in the words of your young people, I can lie flat? What's more, with my own strength, I can't do these things. It is not appropriate to give the credit to me alone, and behind me there are party committees and governments, that is how many people have done how much. ”
Some of the deletions and modifications made by Teacher Zhang are very reasonable, but in more places, we feel that there will be too many regrets after deletions, which is not conducive to reproducing the lively and playful side of Teacher Zhang's personality and life to the readers. However, out of respect for Teacher Zhang, after consulting with Mr. Li Yanguo, we still made deletions and changes according to Teacher Zhang's opinion.

After talking about the manuscript, more than three hours have passed suddenly, and Teacher Gui Mei has been sitting on the edge of her simple bed to communicate with us. After the farewell came out, looking at the delicate figure waving at us, I couldn't help but call her "Big sister-"

As a proofreader, I was very rational when dealing with manuscripts, even to the point of nitpicking. Every word, every word, every sentence, every punctuation mark, every number and its form... In my eyes as an examiner and quality inspector, I am first of all "guilty": should it be written like this? Should it be in this position? When they are combined, are they ready to express something else?
When I first started to participate in the proofreading of "Zhang Guimei", I also went with a critical heart. Soon, however, I was immersed. I have been looking up to Teacher Zhang Guimei, and I met Zhang Guimei from the words and lines of a fireworks in the same world.

This Zhang Guimei, like each of us, was also mischievous when she was a child, and when she was young, she also encountered growing pains, she also longed for love when she was young, she also made jokes when she first joined the work, and she also looked forward to the happiness of the small family after marriage. Such Zhang Guimei is cute, amiable, respectable and approachable. But fate was so unfair to her. When she was young, she lost her shame; Teacher Dong, who had said that she would spoil her all her life, left when she was 38 years old; two years later, she herself was diagnosed with a tumor; after more than four months of surgery, the tumor recurred; now, she suffers from osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, pulmonary interstitial fibrosis, cerebral artery blood supply insufficiency, splenic hemangioma, skull osteomatoma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other 23 diseases... With these pains, the cause she has been desperately engaged in is even more awe-inspiring.
The author's simple, naughty, and interesting Zhang Guimei made my thoughts drift with her involuntarily, so that I forgot my duty from time to time, so I had to re-proofread after reading the whole manuscript, and then had to rework often in the process of re-proofreading. Such a situation is really rare in my more than two decades of career.
After the book was published, Mr. Li Yanguo once asked: "Did you shed tears when reviewing the manuscript?" "As a proofreader, I shouldn't have worked with feelings, but it's not a big deal for a big man to cry while reading the manuscript, and I'm not the only one who cries when I read this manuscript."
