This incident directly led the Ming emperor to cut off tributary diplomatic relations with Japan. This incident has been examined by modern scholar Wu Han, which proves that Hu Weiyong was framed by others, which is basically a false accusation.

In the seventh year of Hongwu, King Yoshiyoshi of Japan sent monks to pay tribute, but was rejected because there was no representation. The king's ministers also sent monks to pay tribute, but were also rejected for unofficial "private merits".
Later, because Japanese pirates repeatedly attacked the border of the Ming Dynasty, they repeatedly "questioned and rebuked" and detained Japanese monks "repeatedly but paid tribute".
In the sixteenth year of Hongwu, he built 59 guardhouses from Penglai in Shandong to Zhejiang and hai.
In the 20th year of Hongwu, he built sixteen health centers in Fujian and Haihai.
In the early years of Yongle, the restrictions were relaxed, but japan was still required to pay tribute every ten years, and the number of people was limited to no more than 200 people. Paying tribute at a time other than the prescribed time, exceeding the number of people, and carrying weapons will be considered pirates and eliminated.
It can be said that in the early years of the Ming Dynasty, the rulers of the Ming Dynasty were still very strict in their defense against Japan, and they attached considerable importance to it.
