China Mobile is "holding back the big move" again

In the past few days, a friend has told me that China Mobile has another subsidiary with strategic significance.

According to the information of Tianyancha, this company is called "Fanxing Zhisuan Technology Co., Ltd." (hereinafter referred to as Fanxing Zhisuan), which is a wholly-owned subsidiary registered and established by China Mobile Terminal Company.

It's an interesting name.

As the name suggests, the stars represent massive, decentralized terminal devices, just like the sky full of stars; intelligent computing, representing the intelligent computing of the eye.

Through multi-party inquiry, we initially understood the main business direction of this company: focusing on the research and development of innovative terminal products, and based on massive terminals, the operation innovation and ecological construction of the computing power business.

The most noteworthy thing is that this is a new business: Fanxing Intelligent Computing will create a future-oriented, new "end-side computing power network".

It will be a new blue ocean with a lot of imagination.

First, the first question: What is the "end-side computing power network"?

Before that, one word we were more familiar with was "hashrate network."

Since 2021, "computing power network" has become an industry trend and industrial direction that is repeatedly mentioned in the strategic planning of major operators and has been pinned on high hopes.

According to the definition of China Mobile's "White Paper on Computing Power Network", the computing power network is a new information infrastructure that takes computing as the center, the network as the foundation, and the deep integration of network, cloud, digital, intelligence, security, edge, end and chain to provide integrated services.

The goal of the computing power network is to make the computing power the same as water and electricity, which can be "accessed at one point, that is, taken and used", covering the basic services of the entire society, so that the network can reach everything, the computing power is everywhere, and the intelligence is omnipresent.

Moreover, both the state and the operator have comprehensively accelerated the strategic layout of the computing power network.

For example, the "East Counting West Computing" project will rely on 8 national computing hub nodes to build a new computing network system integrating data centers, cloud computing and big data for the development of China's digital economy.

For example, in November 2021, China Mobile has also officially released the "China Mobile Computing Power Network White Paper", which discloses in detail the blueprint for the development of computing power networks for the era of digital intelligence.

Now, the "end-side computing power network" mainly gathered by Fanxing Intelligent Computing is an important part of the entire China Mobile computing network.

Second, unlike other links such as cloud, network, and edge, the end-side computing power network may create a new industrial ecology.

It is not like the network and data center, the operator to concentrate on the construction of infrastructure, but the massive user terminal equipment idle computing power, through the computing power network to collect and organize, so as to provide ubiquitous computing power services.

The new information age has produced massive amounts of data, digital processing will iteratively evolve between concentration and distribution, and computing power facilities may be centralized, multi-centralized, or self-organizing.

On the demand side, with the digital upgrading of the entire society, from government affairs and people's livelihood and hundreds of industries, to everyone's work, life and entertainment, more powerful computing power support is needed.

According to the IDC report, the global total data volume is about 53 ZB in 2020 and is expected to reach 175 ZB in 2025. Roland Berger predicts that the per capita hashrate demand of major countries will increase from less than 500 GFLOPS today to 10,000 GFLOPS in 2035.

On the supply side, from mobile phones, PCs, routers, smart cars... More and more smart devices will have more and more terminal computing power. For example, Nvidia's latest data shows that its self-driving chip Atlan, the computing power of a single chip has reached 1000TOPS.

However, the reality is that in most cases, we do not use that high performance, and a large amount of excess computing power in the terminal is not fully utilized.

Now, through the end-side computing power network, these computing power can be effectively gathered together, and the sand can be gathered into a tower, becoming an important force supporting the entire computing power network.

Third, the end-side computing power network will open up more possibilities for our future lives.

For example, in the future, when you wear a VR helmet to play a game, it not only calls the computing power of the helmet itself, but also calls the computing power of your computer, mobile phone, router, smart TV and other home smart devices at the same time, so that the VR game experience is more realistic and smooth, and the power consumption is lower and more power-saving, and the helmet can be lighter.

For example, the camera at home can not only do security, but also give video to the end-side computing network at home, carry out online class interaction, elderly and child care, fitness posture detection, sweeping robot addressing, etc., so that the terminal experience in the home is more intelligent.

For example, in the future, you may be able to "rent out" the computing power of smart cars and smart phones when you can't use them, and earn back your phone bills and electricity bills. ......

Of course, these are just a little personal imagination of me standing in the moment, not necessarily accurate.

However, it is certain that the end-side computing power network will definitely create a win-win situation for all parties, a new way of supplying computing power, a new way of terminal service, and a new value of the terminal industry.

For countries, it is possible to build a stronger network of computing power while spending less on infrastructure investment.

For operators, they can improve their own computing power networks and provide more, better and more convenient computing power services for the society.

For the industrial chain, it can promote the diversified development of terminal forms and functions and create more industrial value.

For users, they can spend less money, get better services, and use a set of terminals to enjoy a highly personalized and user-aware intelligent experience.

Because, the essence of this model is to revitalize the massive amount of idle computing power resources that were previously wasted.

Fourth, it is worth noting that it is not easy to realize the end-side computing power network.

First, it requires a high-speed, secure, massive, and reliable network connection.

At the same time, it requires a large number of terminals to connect computing power to the network with unified rules and processes.

Moreover, it also needs suitable scenarios and requirements to achieve real-time dynamic matching of end-side computing power and downstream requirements.

All of the above is indispensable.

This means that only operators such as China Mobile can really do a good job in the establishment and continuous operation of the entire ecosystem.

According to our understanding, as the main front of China Mobile's terminal innovation business, in the next step, Fanxing Intelligent Computing may focus on technology, products, industry, ecology and other aspects, relying on the computing power, storage and other resources of large-scale hardware to build this new end-side computing network ecology.

In the future, Fanxing Intelligent Computing will accelerate the development of terminal computing power technology, carry out research on end-side computing network technologies such as cloud native, distributed computing, distributed storage, privacy computing, blockchain security, and quantum encryption, and use independent and controllable core technologies to build an end-side computing network with massive terminals.

On the one hand, the terminal promotes the application of the computing power network infrastructure, builds a shared computing power ecology, and enables the China Mobile computing power network to achieve real ubiquitous computing power;

On the other hand, it is committed to enriching the computing power terminal products, innovating the end-side computing power services, and ensuring the security of the end-side data.

Finally, the massive ultra-cost-effective bandwidth, storage, computing power and other ubiquitous resources provide users and developers with safe, trusted, cost-effective computing power and storage services.

However, so far, China Mobile has not released any relevant information, so the above analysis is for reference only.

In the end, how the company will develop is still subject to the final official information.

At that time, we will also continue to pay attention to the next step of the follow-up action of The Star Wisdom Calculation and conduct more in-depth detailed analysis and interpretation.
