If Wu Song determines the popularity of "Water Margin", then Lu Zhishen determines the depth of "Water Margin".
Wu Song's fight against the tiger, drunken beating of Jiang Menshen, the blood-spattered Mandarin Duck Building, and Wu Song's entanglement with women such as Pan Jinlian, Sun Erniang, and Yulan have always been the hottest topics in the Water Margin River and Lake -- that is, the blood gushing, there is enough fragrance, can it not be hot?
Although Lu Zhishen did not seem to be plague or fire, he finally became a Buddha in a "circle of silence", which directly laid its depth. From the reckless jianghu monk before him, he became the angry king kong in the Buddha's gate.

The reason why Lu Zhishen had this change actually had a very critical turning point, that is, before Liangshan conquered the Liao Kingdom, Song Jiang followed Lu Zhishen to Wutai Mountain to meet Elder Zhizhen.
As soon as they met, the Wise Elder ignored Song Jiang, but instead reprimanded Lu Zhishen with a split head and a covered face: "Once the apprentice has been gone for several years, it is not easy to kill people and set fires!" (From "Water Margin")
So, what did Lu Zhishen do wrong? Why was he so reprimanded by Elder Zhizhen?
First, the "Lu Running" that spares his life
When Lu Zhishen appeared, he was already a ruler. Accidentally met Shi Jin and Li Zhong, when the three of them were drinking and chatting, they bumped into Jin Cuilian's father and daughter who were selling songs. After learning that Jin Cuilian was bullied by the butcher town of Kansai, Lu Zhi was deeply angry, which caused Lu Zhi to punch The town of Kansai.
This was Lu Zhishen's first major turning point in life, suddenly from a respected Northern Song dynasty officer to a wanted fugitive.
After Wu Song avenged his brother and privately killed Ximen Qing and Pan Jinlian, he faced reality and generously went to surrender himself!
Lu Zhi deeply embraced the uneven fight, and lost his hand to kill the town of Kansai, but did not mention the black and white, and fled all the way. Therefore, Lu Zhishen can be called "Lu Running". People say that Yang Zhi has no responsibility and knows how to run when something happens. In fact, Lu Zhishen, Song Jiang, Yang Xiong and others, why not look like this?
Therefore, from the perspective of the Water Margin River and Lake, it is not at all how strong and fierce Wu Song is, but that he has just climbed from the grass roots to the capital, and he has not yet seen clearly what the "official field" is all about. Looking at Lu Zhishen, Yang Zhi, Song Jiang, Yang Xiong and other good men, these are all old fritters that belong to the official field.
Later, after Suffering a series of devastation from top to bottom, Wu Song created a blood-spattered Mandarin Duck Tower. This time, Wu Song neither surrendered himself nor asked to be killed by a hundred sticks, but like other good men, he chose to run.
Let's go on to say that Lu Zhishen, his style of running and running, continues in the back. After the wild boar Lin rescued Lin Chong, because Lin Chong intentionally or unintentionally revealed Lu Zhishen's personal information to the escort officer, the government arrested him. After Lu Zhishen learned about it, he ran away again.
Speaking of which, after Lu Zhishen entered the Shuihu River, he was no different from other good men in the jianghu. To use an inappropriate phrase: Whether someone else's life is fate or not, I don't know. But my life must be fate. Regardless of the situation and the reason, it has always been the first to save your life. Of course, it sounds better that there is hope for survival.
This is Lu Zhishen, the initial state, a life-saving Lu running. In the original words of his master, Elder Zhizhen, it is: Fierce and stubborn nowadays, fate is mixed! (From "Water Margin") means that Lu Zhishen was a good man's material at that time, no different, and even more non-noble. In the author's eyes, at least it is better than Wu Song, who is not cold in blood.
II. The "Lu Leader" Who Confessed His Life
When did Lu Run not run? After meeting another road runner, Yang Zhi! This is the two of them working together to lay down the Erlong Mountain. Since then, Lu has run and become the leader of Lu.
Occupying Erlong Mountain means that Lu Zhishen has completely become a good man in the jianghu, which is the so-called confession of fate. Lu Zhishen is different from Song Jiang, Song Jiang has always refused to accept his fate, even if he goes to Liangshan, and begins to trick and gamble on the "return of the curve".
However, Lu Zhishen did not have Song Jiang's thoughts, but Yang Zhi resonated with Song Jiang. Therefore, when you look at "Water Margin", you will find that in the Erlongshan period, it has always been Yang Zhi who plays a leading role. For example, Yang Zhi proposed that Erlongshan join Liangshan, but he mentioned "Song Gongming" in his mouth.
The meaning is very clear, Yang Zhi joined Liangshan only after running to Song Jiang, but as for Chao Gai, Wu Yong and others, they still have a grudge.
Look at Lu Zhishen again, what words are not from it. Because of Lu Zhishen's words, he had already decided that he would spend his whole life in the rivers and lakes. It is nothing more than from this mountain to that mountain, it does not matter if you are not a big brother, it is good to be a cool person. However, Lu Zhi was deeply wrong, but Song Jiang wanted to recruit An.
It was also here that the lu running who spared his life and the lu leader who confessed his fate appeared a serious sense of division. Lu Zhishen broke out on the spot, sharply refuting Song Jiang's theory of zhao'an.
The reason why Lu Tizhi became Lu Run, is because Lu Zhishen belongs to the old fritters of the official field, and he knows all the messy things in it, the so-called "only the Manchu Dynasty is literate and martial, and it is all adulterous" (from "Water Margin").
This is the reason why Lu Zhishen became Lu Run. His running path with Yang Zhi, Song Jiang, Yang Xiong and others is fundamentally different.
It is precisely because Lu Zhishen can see clearly that he opposes and overthrows the image of "Lu Da's leader who confesses his fate" in one fell swoop. It's not that I Lu Zhishen really admits to life, but "than the straight pants of the straight dye to make soap, how to wash and kill how to clean." (From "Water Margin")
The so-called "washing can not be cleaned" is not caused by the fact that the clothes are too dirty to be wanted, but because of the problem of water. This is the case with Song Jiang Zhao'an.
At that time, Wu Song opposed Zhao'an because he was too deeply injured, and his current fate was all due to the official site--if when he reported to the officials after his brother's death, the Yanggu County Ling could act impartially, how could he go and kill Ximen Qing and Pan Jinlian privately? If that Zhang Dujian was not so despicable and greedy for money, how could he have spilled blood on the Mandarin Duck Tower? Therefore, Because Wu Song's wounds were too deep, he could see clearly.
III. The "Master Lu" who knows his destiny
Lu Zhishen opposed Song Jiang Zhao'an, but failed to cause any reaction. So that even Lin Chong, Shi Jin, Yang Zhi, these closest friends with him, were silent, which was obviously supporting Song Jiang Zhaoan!
So what will Lu Zhishen feel at this moment? It turned out that not only the temple, but even the water of this river and lake could not wash away this full of filth.
In this way, Song Jiang was recruited, and then he was ordered to take the good men of Liangshan to fight against the Liao state. Therefore, Lu Zhishen decided to first go to see Elder Zhizhen and explain his confusion. After Song Jiang learned that there were senior monks, he also wanted to follow him, but he asked what the future was.
This is the difference between Lu Zhishen and Song Jiang at this moment, Lu Zhishen is only to solve the puzzle, but Song Jiang asks about the future!
Understanding this series of transformations of Lu Zhishen, now looking at elder Zhizhen's rebuke, is it like a Zen "lion roar" or a slap in the head?
The general meaning is actually to say: Over the years, you Lu Zhi has been running from place to place, but you are bumping heads everywhere, although you are very strong in martial arts, in the goodwill of hoeing the strong and helping the weak, and killing the four sides, but the more you pursue, the more confused you are, and the more you act, the more difficult you are!
In fact, this was the inner demon hidden in the depths of Lu Zhi's deep soul, and he came this time to ask Master for guidance. But before he could speak, he was drunk by the master's head--this drink was broken, the heart demon was eliminated, and Lu Zhishen's soul began to recover!
Lu Zhishen is in the Water Margin River and Lake, and has always acted as a "savior", saving Jin Cuilian, saving Miss Liu, saving Lin Chong, saving Shi Jin, saving Wu Song... But he could only save his life, but not his soul, because Lu Zhishen himself still needed to save his soul.
All this, until Lu Zhi died deeply, he suddenly realized that "today Fang Fang knows that I am me." Therefore, Lu Zhi knew his fate!
The so-called knowing one's destiny is to understand one's mission and strive to complete it, rather than lying flat and confessing one's destiny! Therefore, after Elder Zhizhen woke up Lu Zhishen, he gave him the last four sentences: Catch every summer, cling to wax, listen to the tide and be round, and see faith and silence. It was after doing these things that Lu Zhi became a Buddha...
