But literary works are ultimately derived from the historical imagination, for example, the "flower monk" Lu Zhishen, who is very familiar in the book, has a rather good character archetype.
Whenever Lu Zhishen is mentioned, people will first think of the "punching town Kansai" of the uneven Lu Ti jurisdiction. In the original work, he was originally a small and accomplished official, but because of his pride and enthusiasm, he had to go to Liangshan in the face of righteousness and courage. He was not a scheming man, but his boldness and integrity were recognized by everyone.
And the prototype of such a "flower monk" will certainly not be an ordinary person. His name was Guo Wei, and he was born in 904 to a family of officials in Shunzhou (present-day Beijing), and his father, Guo Jian, was a local assassin. Such a family should have provided him with a very good living environment, but in the end it became empty in a change.
In 906, Guo Jian was implicated in changes in the imperial court and was victimized by the envoys of Youzhou Jiedushi. The 2-year-old Guo Wei could only be taken by his mother to Luzhou overnight to join relatives, but in the end, although he successfully arrived at his aunt's house, his mother died of illness. Since then, he has grown up in a poor life, which is not easy.
In 922, the 18-year-old Guo Wei decided to join the army. Although the environment in which he grew up was very difficult, he was born strong and strong, so he was also appreciated by Li Jitao. Life in the barracks made him into a habit of aggressive drinking and hatred for the unrighteous. Coupled with his already bravery, this immediately made him a trusted figure in the army.
And just by chance, Guo Wei, who was wandering around, encountered a vicious butcher who was arrogantly wandering in the city. The two violent tempers burned at a moment's notice, a contradiction arose, and in the face of the crazy provocative butcher, he did not hesitate to take out his knife and splash three feet of blood. Although it was a murder, he was also recognized by the army for his courage and integrity, and he overcame the merit by eliminating harm for the people. This plot is also the prototype of the "fist town Kansai" in later literature.
Since then, Guo Wei has begun to win a chance to get ahead in the army. In 947, he helped Liu Zhiyuan establish the Hou Han Dynasty, but being a hero was discredited by suspicion. So in 950, in order to prevent the emperor from being eliminated first, he chose to raise an army, according to the "New Five Dynasties History", the Later Han imperial family ruthlessly executed all his family members, and finally completely angered the general, led a large army to seize the throne, in 951, Later Zhou was established.
In addition to the struggle of the first half of his life, after Guo Wei ascended the throne, he changed his former path to become an outstanding emperor. The great chaos since the Tang Dynasty has been due to the fact that those dynasties still retain the shortcomings of their predecessors, and he has also vigorously rectified this point. At the same time, he attaches great importance to people's livelihood, advocates frugality and light taxation, and is also very good at talent. Under his efforts, Hou Zhou presented a long-lost Guotai Min'an, and he was also a well-deserved Ming Jun.
Zhou Taizu, a generation of renjun famous emperors throughout the ages, has also been recorded in many subsequent literary works. The worship of great people will often evolve into vivid literary images. Lu Zhishen is the existence of him as a template, drinking and fighting to beat the butcher to death, and the integrity, which are similar to them.
