According to the news, in September 2021, the compliance and risk management department of NIO Motor received a complaint that someone had used the company's resources to "mine", and NIO immediately began an investigation after receiving the complaint.

Zhang Mou, an employee of Weilai's R&D department, since February 2021, has used the convenience brought by its management server to install and modify several server resources of the company, making a "mining machine" for mining virtual currency, and mining for several months for its own profit.

According to the announcement, Zhang mined Ether, which is one of the more mainstream virtual currencies today. Although Ether has recently declined, it is still among the high-value virtual currencies.

The value of virtual currencies lies in uniqueness and encryption, which needs to be computed by high-performance computers, which is what we often call "mining". "Mining" is not something that anyone can do, because it requires extremely high power consumption and hardware loss.

Due to the high performance requirements of "mining" on electronic devices, the average home computer is not enough to support the mining behavior of cryptocurrencies. The veteran, who has joined NIO since 2015, is mainly responsible for system engineering team building in the autonomous driving business, with nearly 400 employees.

After Zhang Jianyong left, Weilai did not plan to find someone to fill the vacancy, but planned to break up the overall business of the automatic driving system team, divide the team members into several categories, except for some businesses that are temporarily independent, the rest of them are integrated with the autonomous driving hardware department led by Weilai vice president Bai Jian and the autonomous driving algorithm team led by vice president Ren Shaoqing.
