The British Open will be held from 26 September to 2 October at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, with a format that will be significantly lengthened while retaining the random draw feature of each round. Cazoo, a well-known online used car trading platform in the United Kingdom, will become the title sponsor of the event.
The 2022 "Cazoo" British Open will be held from 26 September to 2 October at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes. The biggest feature of the format, the same random draw mode for each round as the FA Cup, will be retained. It is different from the super short format of the previous final to grab 6, semi-final +1/4 final to grab 4, and the first four rounds to grab 3. The format of the new season's British Open will be stretched to: 10 in the final, 6 in the semi-finals, 5 in the quarter-finals, and 4 in the first four rounds.
The British Open was founded in 1985 and continued to be held until 2004. Last year, the British Open was "revived" after a gap of 17 years. Mark Williams defeated Tian Pengfei, Richie Wharton, Dominic Dell and other players in succession, and defeated Gary Wilson 6-4 in the final to become the new defending champion.
Cazoo, the UK's leading online used car trading platform, has further expanded its partnership with WST as a title sponsor for the new season of the British Open. In the 2022/23 season, Cazoo will sponsor up to 7 snooker events, including: British Championship, Masters, Crown in 2022/23, Grand Prix, Players' Championship, Tour Championship, British Open.
