At present, the development of the M brand platform has entered a substantive stage, and the prototype test results are in line with expectations. Previously, Dongfeng had planned to release relevant products and technology strategies at the Beijing Auto Show, which opened in April, but postponed the release due to the impact of the epidemic.
Prior to this, Zhu Yanfeng, chairman of the board of directors and secretary of the party committee of Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd., visited the M Business Department on January 27 to investigate, including going to the modeling design center of the technology center to understand the new model situation, and listening to the progress report of the M18 project and the M57 project, which means that the two new cars created by the Dongfeng high-end new energy off-road vehicle project to be put into production in 2023 are already in preparation, codenamed M18 and M57, which are currently in the styling design stage.
On January 18, Dongfeng high-end new energy off-road vehicle project, namely Dongfeng M Division, started construction. As a new high-end electric brand created by Dongfeng Company after Lantu Automobile, the project will develop a new MORV electric off-road vehicle platform with a production capacity of 100,000 units, which is scheduled to be put into production in 2023.
It is understood that the Dongfeng high-end new energy off-road vehicle project covers an area of 485 acres, including three major sections: intelligent manufacturing center, off-road base, headquarters office and commercial display center. The total construction area reached 96,000 square meters, and the new welding workshop, painting workshop, assembly workshop, test center and experience center, off-road experience track and test track and other supporting facilities were built.
