Previously, Rennes Group said that the ultimate successful bidder must commit at least £1 billion to future investment in the club.

In response, a Ukrainian negotiator said that "there is a lot of speculation, all kinds of conspiracy theories" and called on people not to believe "unverified information".

A U.S. official said that according to intelligence, the cause of Abramović's and Ukrainian negotiators' illness was "environmental factors," not poisoning. The Russian Kremlin has not responded to a request for comment at this time.

Russia Today pointed out that the website claims that Russia was involved in the "nerve agent poisoning incident" of former Russian spy Sergei and his daughter Yulia in 2018, as well as the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navani in 2020.
