Artist Profile
Born in Hong Kong, Chan Yan Yun studied Western painting in 2003, completed the Diploma in Pure Arts at the Hong Kong Academy of Arts in 2008 and the Modern Ink Painting Course at the School of Professional and Continuing Education of the University of Chinese, Hong Kong in 2013, and began to focus on modern ink painting creation in 2009.
The works mainly take water as the theme, waterfalls, waves, glaciers, etc., with light and elegant natural colors, traditional pen and ink plus modern methods, in order to enrich the expressiveness of the picture. The paintings are named after the "Heartstrings" series, and the paintings are stringless sounds, inner landscapes. Chen hopes that the paintings will be gripping! Touching! At the same time, he explores his inner world through painting creation.
In 2017 and 2021, his works were selected for two global ink painting exhibitions, and his works are often exhibited in Hong Kong and at home and abroad. His works have been awarded to The Art Museum of Liu Ziying and His Wife Shi Jingyi, Shenzhen Baopuxuan Art Museum, Tianqu Museum of Contemporary Art and private collections.
He is currently the Honorary President of the Contemporary Creative Ink Painting Society, the Vice President of the New Ink Painting Society, a member of the Hong Kong Modern Ink Painting Society, a member of the Landscape Painting Society and the Hong Kong Beauty Association.
