Because she really liked Feng Zikai's prose and couldn't read enough in the library, Xu Lingfen gritted her teeth and paid for a copy of "Yuanyuantang Essay Collection", Zhejiang Literature and Art Publishing House, 1983 edition, written by Feng Zikai and edited by Feng Yiyin. At that time, the tuition fee for college students for a semester was 10 yuan, and the price of the book was 2.65 yuan, which was how expensive it was. The money to buy books was what she desperately saved from the bursary.

While reading and writing, Xu Lingfen herself became a writer. In 2014, she began to write the story of Feng Zikai and Hangzhou, which was later collected into a book called "Door to Lonely Mountain - Feng Zikai and Hangzhou". This was the first book she wrote for her idol, and she won the 8th Bingxin Prose Award, which made a good start, inspiring her to write "The Lord of Yuanyuantang - Feng Zikai and Tongxiang" and "In the Sun and Moon Building - Feng Zikai and Shanghai". Mr. Feng Zikai's grandson Song Feijun personally wrote an inscription for these three books: "Feng Zi Kai Yuanyuan Trilogy".

Feng Zikai's life is full of scars, not to mention that he once traveled east to Japan to study painting, during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he took his family to many places, such as Tonglu, Pingxiang, Hankou, Guilin, Zunyi, Chongqing... The so-called "escape of art". But the ones who are most closely related to him are the three cities – Tongxiang, Hangzhou and Shanghai.
In the "Feng Zi Kai Yuanyuan Trilogy", the author Xu Lingfen closely links Feng Zi Kai's life with the three cities, and uses delicate brushstrokes to interpret the different aspects of the three cities that have made Feng Zi Kai's life as an artist.

Three floors of life, how many floors are you on?
Regarding life, Feng Zikai once put forward a "three-story" theory:
I think that human life can be divided into three layers: one is material life, the other is spiritual life, and the third is soul life. Material life is food and clothing, and spiritual life is academic literature and art... "life" is such a three-story. Those who are too lazy (or powerless) to take the stairs live on the first floor, that is, to make the material life very good, to eat meat, to honor and wealth... People who hold such a view of life are the majority in the world.
Second, those who are happy (or powerful) to take the stairs will climb up to the second floor to play, or stay in it for a long time. This is the person who concentrates on academic literature and art... There are also many such people in the world, namely the so-called "intellectuals", "scholars", and "artists". There is also a kind of person, "life desire" is very strong, the foot strength is very large, the second floor is not satisfied, then take the stairs, climb the three floors to go ... There are only these three kinds of people in the world.
The writer Shi An once said that Feng Zikai's "most important work is actually the Collection of Nursing Paintings", although it is not his work that is popular now. Indeed, the Collected Paintings of Nursing Life was a grand project conceived by Feng Zikai and Master Hongyi, with a total of six episodes, which lasted half a century from the publication of the first episode to the end of the series.
It can be said that the "Fengzi Kai Yuanyuan Trilogy" is not only a biography of a person, it is also a book about people's self-realization, it is like a mirror, everyone who desires to grow can see themselves from it, see that they are in the first few floors of life, and see which layer they will run to.
