On March 22, Tesla's gigafactory in Berlin, Germany, was officially opened and delivered the first 30 Model Y models. The plant is Tesla's first gigafactory in Europe and its fourth in the world. Previously, Tesla models in Europe mainly came from its gigafactory in Shanghai.

According to relevant agencies, the Berlin Gigafactory will have a production capacity of about 54,000 units in 2022, 280,000 units in 2023, and eventually reach an annual production capacity of 500,000 vehicles by 2025. The plant was originally scheduled to start operations in July 2021, but construction was repeatedly hampered by complaints from local environmental groups, and its final completion took two and a half years.

Tesla also plans to produce its latest-spec 4680 battery at the Berlin Gigafactory to replace the existing 2170 battery. According to previous reports, Tesla's latest CTC structure battery has also completed trial installation at the factory.
